SS Cladded Disc Cookware - How Not to Discolor

Posted by gorilla_x (My Page) on

I've read here that SS pots/pans should be used with medium to low heat compared to other types of cookware. So let's say I want to boil water, and I have pot with a SS cladded aluminum disc bottom. Do I use medium heat to boil the water, or high heat? Won't high discolor the bottom of the pot?

Or should I just use a cheapo aluminum pot for boiling water and making pasta?

Thanks...

For boiling water you can kick the heat up to high. It shouldn't have any major effects on the cookware.

If you should wind up with heat staining a little Bar Keepers Friend will polish it right out.
