pasta machines

I'm finally going to succumb to the pressure and buy a pasta machine but need advice. I have a heavy duty Kitchen Aid stand mixer and like the looks of the pasta making attachments. But I can't find any reviews. Should I invest another $299 for the whole lot or get an old-fashioned hand-crank Atlas?

Thanks.

RE: pasta machines

My friend has the KA attachment and loves it. But one question; the pasta attachment is $69.95 at Cooking.com, so not sure what you mean by $299 (?) I have a hand-crank Atlas, which I don't very often use. I've never really considered getting the attachment for my KA, but like I said, my friend loves her and uses it a lot.

Here is a link that might be useful: Kitchen Aid pasta attachment

RE: pasta machines

The $299 is for the complete kit including different cutters and a ravioli maker. I figure I'll use it more if I can make different types.

I spoke with a young woman at our local cooking shop who said her mom has the KA attachment and uses it a lot. Apparently, she loves it too.

Thank you for your feedback.
