New to Cast Iron - Lint?

Posted by gorilla_x (My Page) on

DW and I purchased Lodge pre-seasoned 5 QT dutch oven and 10 1/4" skillet a few weeks ago.

The only issue I have: when spreading oil (after I am done cooking) with a paper towel, bits of paper are left behind on the cast iron. And if I try to wipe off the paper bits with a dish towel, then sometimes a very small amount of lint from the towel is left on the cast iron.

Am I doing something wrong?

The cast iron has a rough surface which is causing the problem. As it becomes more seasoned the lint sticking should stop. Try not to rub as hard with the towels and ignore what is sticking to the pan,it is harmless.
