Can't season cast iron in oven, need help

I am hoping someone can help me. I know for seasoning a cast iron you put it in the oven. But my waffle iron has wooden handles that can't go into the oven. On instructions they say to season it on a grill. I don't know if my grill even works, haven't used it in years. Is there a way to do this on my stove, safely!

I would appreciate so much any help!

Are you sure the handles cant be removed? Because even on the grill the wooden handles might scorch. The temp reached needs to be around 500 to season according author Jack Butler who wrote Jacks Skillet.
If the handles dont come off, I think I would just oil it and turn it on, wait for it to heat up.
Whats the make of the skillet? Maybe I can find something for you.
