Which brand of vintaqe cast iron? Is Griswold best?

I am soooo confused about which brand of vintage cast iron skillet to purchase. Can you tell me your preference? Also,
is the fire ring give an advantage? Any information I should know before purchasing would be appreciated.

Griswold and (old) Wagner are both excellent. Collectors tend to prefer Griswold. The "fire ring" was intended to raise the skillet a bit off the solid surface of a wood fired stove to equalize the heating. It has no effect one way or the other with a gas range. It might be a minor disadvantage with a flat top electric or induction range.
