I remember reading another post about 4 months ago on the Kitchen forum about this. That person's cooktop shattered but it happened while the lid was still hot. I bet if you leave it alone it will eventually break the seal. You could try sliding a razor blade between the cook top and the lid. I only suggest that since I use a straight edge to clean the cooktop. I would not try to force it up. You poor dear. Rose

Hi this just happened to me .How stupid of me to put the metal pan lid down on the glass cooker top .It was in between all 4hobs .Waited for it to cool and then did as above turned on all hob tops and slid a Stanley blade under it .Really hard but it then started to fizz and the lid became loose .lesson learnt and I will never do that again .

Turn the heat on the cook top. Hopefully it is on or partly on a burner- or heat the lid up to heat the now cold air

This may be an old post, but my husband and i just had this problem and his solution worked like a charm. We let it cool naturally for an hour then filled a plastic bag with our hottest tap water. ( You must use a leakproof bag). Put the filled bag on top of the stuck lid and wait 3-4 minutes. The air inside the lid will expand and you can carefully free the lid.
