All-Clad 'exclusives'

Can anybody offer some information on why All Clad offers exclusives in some stores. For example, in the East (possibly everywhere) Williams Sonoma offers a deep sautÃ© pan which they bill as "A Williams Sonoma exclusive", or Macy's offering a 3.5 qt sautÃ© pan with a domed lid... again "only at Macy's"

I'm just curious why these exist. Same quality? Good deals? I mean, they seem to be quite a bit cheaper, yet slightly different than the closest relative pot or pan. Thanks for any comments.

My bet would be they have a deal with All Clad, the offer is likely to get people to try the cookware at a reduced price (then come back to buy more). Several yrs ago in a Kit Etc. there were a few slightly odd size Caph. pans and that is what the sales person said to me. Same quality but a "come on" for sales.
