Old Iron Skillet

Posted by mississippiman (My Page) on

Hi..My first posting. I have a old iron 15" skillet that weighs 16 lbs, short 6" handle, 2.25" deep, tab opposite handle, pouring spouts on each side, and unmarked as far as mfg marks go. Has been marked by previous owner with date of 1875 or 1975 and initials of owners. Any ideas as to usability and mfg? Thanks Bill

RE: Old Iron Skillet

Did you do a burn out to clean the old rust and crud that Iron will collect?
Ebay has info from sellers and buyers in their community forum. I strongly suggest you also use e-b as a source of help.
Can you make pics and post them that would be of some help. Size in some of the older skillets varies greatly because of who made it and where it was made.
Someone will come along and help you here.
Welcome to a great web site to learn, communicate and enjoy.

HappyTrails to you,
pinecone and rudolf :(
