Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

Posted by pratzert (My Page) on

Does anyone know who the actual Manufacturer is of the QVC "Cook's Essentials" non-stick pots and pans ?

I am planning to buy a set of their non-stick cookware and would like to learn a little more about the cookware.

I have read many good reviews about their non-stick ability as well as the warranty coverage that I'm sold on it. I have spent $700.00 on Calphalon "Pro" nonstick pots and pans that I am close to throwing in the trash. I think I'd be better off spening 1/5 the money even if I end up throwing it away in 10 years. It's still cheaper.
Thanks, Tim

I would assume it is actually manufactured by many small Chinese factories as it is a QVC exclusive.

Before getting a set of anything, why not get one pan and see how you like it?

Although I am a fan of nonstick for some purposes, it makes no sense for other kinds of pots/pans in terms of their functionality.

I believe Calphalon has a lifetime warranty on its top of the line pans, so why not contact them before tossing them.

According to the QVC web site Cooks Essentials is made in Spain.

Make that Spain, Thailand & China.

Since no non-stick lasts forever, it might make more sense to be the lower priced Cook's Essentials, and replace it as it wears. I believe it also has a decent warranty. I tried HSN's Ultrex, and it turned in to junk. I wish I had found this forum before I bought the huge, expensive set. I have a few pieces left, but most has been tossed. Their customer service is about nonexistant. When I first got the set, the knobs fell off of the glass lids (we have ceramic tile flooring), because they added a steam open/close ring, but some brilliant engineer did not know that the screws that hold them together needed to be longer. They replaced them in a timely manner - about as fast as the nonstick coating started to wear off. Rubbing a pan 14,000 times with a Scotch Brite is not a good test. It should be used, washed, and used again, maybe 25 times and see how it fairs. My friends have the Cook's Essentials and are having no problems with it so far.
I have now bought a piece of ScanPan amd I am thinking about getting a piece or two of the Cook's, but I really like my stainless. IMHO non-stick is good for frying eggs, and the like but that is about it.

PS: Sorry this has nothing to do with your question, but I wish I would have known then, what I know now.

I have a set of Cook's Essentials that is about 3 or 4 years old. I'm pretty sure that the box it was shipped in said "Meyer" on it. Although I rarely use it anymore (I gave up non-stick), I did manage to toast a few of the skillets that I used two or more times daily. QVC was very good about honoring the warranty, but not so good about sending the exact replacements. For example, the last time I requested a 12" skillet, they sent a 10" chicken fryer.

I have a whole set of Cook's Essentials pots and pans. I've had this set for about 3 yrs now and I love it.

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I too have Cooks Essentials Hard Anodized and love it. I bought the 8 piece set to get started and have bought other pieces to go with it. What I really like is the ability to put it in the oven if I want to. They have a lifetime warrenty and are much cheaper than Calphalon.

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I bought a very nice pasta pan from QVC with the non stick which they say, has a lifetime guarantee. Suffice it to say the coating is horribly scatched. Now I really have no clue where to send the pan to. They say "lifetime guarantee"..but who do I return the pan to?

These are handsome cookware but the coating really got dinged up pretty badly in a rather short time. I also have some of their stainless, which doesnt have the coating and I really do like it. So check out the stainless.

Humbug -- Send it back to QVC.

 o
RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

Humbug.....Call their customer service #. They'll give you an address to send it to, and will ship the replacement when they receive the defective item. Just make sure you tell them exactly what your item is, or you may not get the same thing back. (I've been there a few times.)

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I have Cooks essential stainless steel exterior with non stick interior & LOVE it.

As far as QVC their return policy is awesome & they really do back their mdse. On the rare occassion I've had a problem with their customer svce I contact their presidents office & within a day I get a call & the problem is immediately rectified. HSN on the other hand has the WORST customer service I've ever experienced, on more than 1 occassion.

I don't know who makes the Cook's Essentials, but I have had several pieces of the stainless, non stick for many years and I love it! The coating on some of the pans doesn't look too good, but is not flaking and still works appropriately. I'm looking for a really good excuse to buy a whole set!

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I too purchased the stainless steel non stick 13pc.set of cookware "QVC",only to half to keep sending them back for replacement & not getting the piece I sent them. If I sent them a 12" skillet,I"d get a 10"....Never Again! The ones I got had tiny waffle shapped (inside) bottoms that would not clean properly & I wound up just throwing them. I do like non stick, but not this type. razenette

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I just called QVC to find out if I could get a replacement Instruction booklet for my Cook's Essential 10 Quart Rice-Vegetable Steamer. They gave me a phone number to call. It was the manufacturer's number: 1-(800)-336-4822 (Their name was something like: Denny Keystone Manufacturing.) I called, but all I got was an answering machine where I had to leave a message and hope that they will call me back. (Don't know if they make anything besides the Steamer.) I Hope this helps someone!

Fagor, that's it. I was sitting here trying to think of that because I need to replace a few pans. I have the original stainless set, and it has really taken a beating. But, it's lasted longer than the Technique. I have the new dishwasher safe technique hard anodized pans. I really like them but I really limit what I cook in them. They "scratch" pretty easily. I'm sure they won't last as long as the stainless did.

FYI - I use them on Induction (stainless), and they worked great, until I think I boiled some eggs. The heat penetrated the layers and burned them. Food, house and pan smelled funny so I tossed pans.

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I have a set of CE stainless with the encapsulated bottoms.
I've had mine for about 9 years now. It's held up well and haven't had to send anything back. It was made in Thailand.

I've recently started "upgrading" my pieces bit by bit though.. but I can say the pieces I've had have served me well and I'm simply packing them up in a box and if I don't go back and use them again in the next couple months then I'm going to let my mom pick through and take what she wants.

Maybe I got lucky? Or maybe the older stuff held up better?
I have recently ordered their Technique Tri Ply Stainless/NonStick pan.. I'm waiting for it to arrive.. it's not too expensive and a good way to add a NS try ply pan. We'll see how that one holds up. :)

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I just purchased the three square pan Cooks Essential skillet set but haven't used it yet.

I have had a nonstick TFal set since the mid 80's and its still holding up great. Hope the Cooks Essentials holds up as well.

mine needs to be replaced they are scraed

cant use min stickes too bad how do i send back for replacments????

 o
quick cook nonstick ease pressure kettle

I bought one of the kettles several years ago. It cooks under pressure but you can relieve the pressure by sliding the handles of while holding the cover on. Not quite as fast as a pressure cooker but I like it better. The cover has a valve in it but the convenience of checking the food is of value to me. Would like to know if you still make/sell them.

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

I sent my pans in to the warranty center and it has been to date....9 weeks, and still haven't been contacted about replacements. I have contacted QVC at least 5 different times and they are looking in to where my replacements are.. they do not make available to me a number to call the warranty center myself, and every inquiry they send in on my behalf is followed by a wait time of 3-5 business days. I am not very happy with the customer service on the 'lifetime warranty'. 9 weeks and counting, and I sent in all the pans.... 4 kids and hardly any pans to cook with! ugghhh, not happy at all

RE: Who Makes Cook's Essentials Pans ?

Calphalon has GREAT return/replacement policy... and easy to do. A few months ago, somebody somewhere posted something about it, so I checked it out. Went to their web site and found place to fill in a little info and eventually print out a shipping label. Sent back 3 pieces... with NO receipts. One piece was favorite sauce pan from a set I had purchased YEARS ago... though I had only used plastic, silicon, or wooden tools on non-stick surface, there were wear marks developing. Other 2 pieces were frequently used skillets... 2 piece set from BB&B (I think)... something like $49.99 on sale?? The non-stick surface just wasn't so non-stick anymore. I boxed the 3 items up and shipped to C... cost maybe $10 or so at cheapest rate. About 3 weeks later, got brand new replacements... skillets were exact replacements and sauce pan was same size but slightly different from original. Plan to send back 6 qt stock pot (from that original set) at some point, because it has some wear in bottom.
