Good Catalogs to order Food (not sweets)

Does anyone have a favorite "food" catalog that they like to order from for the holidays? I'm looking for something other than candy or other sweets, and not interested in Harry & David. I have a few orders I need to place for families in other parts of the country. Thank you!

Nueskes and Zingermans are both excellent. The first is fine quality bacon, ham etc. The latter is a wide range of superb breads, meats, olive oils, cheeses, and mixed delicatessen specialties.

I love Fly Creek. It's an apple orchard in upstate NY but they also have great BBQ sauces as well as other sauces, cheeses, baked goods, dips, jellies, jams, etc.

I also love Stash Tea and Community Coffee. I also like Melissa's Produce.

With a new fruit tree a nebulous designation such as "low chill" works well enough for me. If someone has success with it locally, so much the better. Precision with regard to chill hours would be more informational than applicable. Too much emphasis will have you drilling down on the method of measurement, etc. And fails to account for micro-climates and other variables. It kind of becomes a never ending discussion that runs in a loop. Following up I just scored a Sandra Rose and an Attika from C&O - they had a two-tree minimum. I may just plant them in the same hole if I can't find a good spot for the extra. They are going to need some shade cloth on hot days, I have found cherries hard to establish late. But they will still be ahead of planting them in the fall or next spring. Frank, I haven't been very positive on cherries but my problem has been not paying them enough attention. This year I sprayed them with my stone fruits and I now have bug-free fruits. I usually don't get cracking problems, but when cracking is bad its really bad. With the bugs controlled I have also missed the brown rot problems (and, with the Surround for the bugs I also include some disease protectants). Scott

Finally found the Crystal Light Sunrise orange drink last week. It is good, but a little sweet for my taste, I like it made very weak. Really prefer the Raspberry Lemonade flavor. A friend said she knows someone that can get it by the case, which is cheaper. We may go in together and get a case of it. Don't get me wrong, I don't drink it like water. One little tub made up can last me several days. I used to be totally against all diet beverages and didn't like the aftertaste they left in my mouth. But I've found I can tolerate the CL made very weak and it is a nice change from plain water.

A Food Processor to Puree Raw Sweet Potato?

Just an update to let you know, a dog forum friend has a Vitamix and she generously put a sweet potato in hers and sent me a video of the output. It's good, better than my +30 year old 4.2 amp GE can do. But not around $500 worth better. It's not completely mushed up either, certainly not what you'd called pureed. I tested mine again, food processor and then on the dog and got acceptable output so I'm saving my money till mine breaks and I have to get a new one. Oh, I did buy a juicer to try as well, on Halloween. A Salton VitaPro. Same output on the sweet potato as the very, very much more expensive Vitamix. However the juice pulp is very wet so it's ok for the dog but not a good juicer. It's going back. Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions.

I haven't ordered from Dakin Farms in Vermont but I get their emails. Probably will order from them today. They are offering ground shipping rates for the next 3 days. They are teamed with Cabot cheese so I figure that's a good endorsement. Love Cabot's cheese

Thank you for your ideas-- I did find Nueskes but turns out they don't send to APO addresses, which is where this gift is headed -- I will try the other suggestions - thank you!

Late to the game again! I forgot one. I order from it rarely because I do think they are expensive but I always love it: Legal Seafood! I especially love their clam chowder and their scallops. I hope Santa gives me a gift card again this year!

Allen Brothers ships divine steaks, but not to P.O. boxes, so won't work for you this time. Nevertheless, below is the link for future reference. The bone-in filets are price-y but so worth it.

Penzey's ships free (for a minimum purchase you're bound to hit). They have some lovely gift packages. Kinda food.
