Lentil soup

I made a lentil soup with some carrots onions, meat and unsalted broth. I didn't like the taste of it. What can I do to pick up the flavor.? The meat was round steak and I usually don't like the beef broth. It just seems like a very unpalatable soup, but I know lentils are good for you and I want to incorporate it into my diet. I fixed mine in the pressure cooker. Would tomatoes help? Thanks for any tips. Barb
