Aren't these the most delightful cookies and they were a cinch to make. My 10 yr old made them from scratch. Sugar cookie dough and Royal icing with marshmallows.

she freeformed the cookies and ladled on the icing which she spread with a spatula. I put stiffer icing and chocolate in tiny parchment bags for her. It's easier for her to manage than a piping bag. We used a sprinkle for the nose. I wasn't going to make or buy fondant just for that.

Hi Laura! Thanks! The weather here hasnt been too good to the plumerias lately. The sun just doesnt want to come out! My Divine has smaller blooms now, but the color is stronger on it now (it seems to do that with small blooms). I had blooms as small as half an inch when the plant is heading into winter which is impressive. My divine is actually making another inflo right now though (as well as a few other palms), but the divine inflo isnt actually showing yet so Im hoping that it can hang on until spring! Thanks Randy! Most of my bananas did grow well (my Thai Black, Ice Cream, Saba, and even my Velutina), but my basjoos did not get significantly taller. My Saba and Ice Cream banana has at least 3 feet of new Pseudostem which was great to see. Im hoping that My Ice Cream banana will start fruting this time next year (or better yet, early summer the year after that!) The weather is bad here too. We got almost 3 inches of rain yesterday and its been cloudy all week long. It was a terrible end to summer and not a great start to Fall. Looks like sun next week, but we lose the high 70s for mid to upper 60s! Thats a bit too cold for me since I still want at least one more sunny 80F day. Hopefully winter wont be this bad! -Alex

Hey Kevin, We have a few resorts here in Va. Wintergreen is about 3 hrs away in the mountains near Crozet Va..(Charlottesville) The skiig/snowboarding is fun for Va...My son like to go to Snoeshoe WV..it's about a 2hour drive from his College (Va Tech) But my favorite on the east coast is Seven Springs PA...great place for all snow lovers...great for families... and has alot to offer...My favorite place out west is Whistler/Blackcomb!!! Talk about heaven!!! LOL !!! We usually see temps during the winter down to the low 20's and average temps around 40-50...We always say wait until tomorrow around here because the temps change and we can have snow flurries one day then 60 degress the next!!! Hi guys. Jimhardy... my Abyssinian Bananas are great! I haven't brought them out of dormancy yet, but they are starting to grow anyway, so I'm going to have to do something! But last week we had a new record low for that date. It got down to 14 degrees. Global warming? Yeah, right. Not here! We've had an extremely cold Spring. I have my 3 big ones in dormancy and 3 young ones I've kept growing upstairs in the heat and light all winter, so I've got 6 that I'll plant outside this year. Williamr, I'm not sure whether or not I cooked it to death or if it froze. All I know is it's "deader than a door nail". I won't dig it up quite yet. I'm too busy to deal with it. I'm definitely having better luck growing my ensete. But I'll replant the palms or move to southern Utah where palms don't need protection. Probably both!

Thanks for responding. Desk--I think if I switch the drawer stack to the left side it will look less "wonky". I think that combo drawer/door on the right doesn't look very good. I have it all counter height--I don't personally care for the look of the lowered desk area in a kitchen. I do agree on the glass doors. What about a 30" open shelf like this picture below, flanked by standard 42" doors. corner upper: I've looked at lots of angled versus easy reach, and I think I like the easy reach better. It opens up the corner more. Glass doors: I would still really like to do a few glass doors. If I get rid of the angled glass door, where could I do a couple of glass doors that would look nice? I'm not sure where the best placement would be. corner by range: I don't think I will miss that space either. I can do one more drawer stack, other than the one to the left of the stove, so I was thinking of putting a 30" stack to the right of the stove. I can only do one more--so it's either 30" by the stove or 24" on the end of the peninsula. Thoughts? Fridge: It is only 12" right now. Would it look okay to pull the top cabinets out to 24" without doing a fridge panel? I am not against a fridge panel but the cost to add is $400 I think, so I am not sure if we can afford to add it. The wall is only 28" out, so the fridge doors should be able to open fully on both sides. Microwave: we do have a vent to the outside, so a range hood would work. When you say, in the corner, do you mean on the counter top? We do have counter top space, but wouldn't having the microwave on the counter be more of a "no no" than above the range? We do use our microwave daily, so I don't want to stick it in a pantry or anything like that. I take it back on the outlet in the cabinet by the fridge--it is in the future cabinet on the far left above the desk. I was planning to charge iPads and such out of sight in that cabinet. I kind of feel like since I can't afford a really pretty range hood, then I might as well just leave the microwave OTR since its never bothered me before, and use our limited funds for other pretty things I will enjoy/use every day, such as a few glass cabinets and drawers.

My two little DGS didn't get to come and help make the cookies, but I went ahead and made them. Tell your DD that hers look so much prettier than mine. I baked my cookies to close so they weren't all round. But Blake and Caleb loved them and so did Santa.

loves2cook4six - We did it! Tonight my daughter and I tried our 1st attempt at making your daughter's snowman cookies. I think we need a little more practice, BUT we had a GREAT time together making them. THANKS to your daughter and to you for posting the pics and sharing the idea with us. It was a great way to spend a Christmas vacation evening together!
