Recommendations for a spice grinder?

Every once in a while I need a spice grinder. A mortar and pestle don't always do it. (Or at least the small mortar and pestle I have don't.) The old pepper grinder I often use doesn't always do it, and it is a pain to clean after just 1/2 teaspoon of spice grinding.

For example, today I was grinding black cardamon to use in making a marinade for jerky. Nothing I tried did it very well. I shelled out the seeds, ground them (a long, painful process!) with an old pepper grinder, and tossed the ground seeds and whole pods into the marinade.

Any suggestions? What do you use to grind spices? I love the Unicorn grinders I use every day for for salt and pepper. But is one of these the best for a few seeds or pods of a special spice?

Would you recommend a mortar and pestle? Obviously easy to clean. If so, which one?
