Ann T or anybody else....
I'm in the middle of making Cherry balls, but I had a thought....has anybody made this as a fudge-type dessert? I'm wondering if it will set up solid. Thoughts??

Lori!!! I'm so darned happy to see you again!!!

I think the candy will be just fine as fudge, but what will you do with the coconut? Add it in? Or sprinkle it on top and press it in?

Tom... Those purple queens (and many, many more not shown) I dig up and pot up and put in the garage. Yes, they are perennials and are supposed to come back but instead here's what I do: After taking them out of the pots in the spring (after last frost date), they continue to grow (they never died in the pot). They become so tall that I break off the long stems (the plants you see there have been broken off) take about 7/8 stems and pot them up. THey look beautiful in a pot and I am ready with those for winter storing. Again, I wait until the ones in the ground are tall, break off the stems there and pot up again. Around November (before first frost), I dig out the purple queens and pot those up. Why do I do that with perennials? Because someone told me that if we have a bad winter, they don't come back, plus.... when I plant mine out they are already huge! Hope I have enough energy this November to continue this because I love those plants. Carrie

We've had a lot of cloudy days lately. I'm really wondering if that's why this one hasn't faded like the others. But the color is really striking. I could really enjoy an entire bed of this color even with some slight variations. I hope it holds up.

These seeds are definitely on my list, but I'm not going to kill myself trying to get them. I did a google search and found an auction on eBay that claims to be selling these seeds, but the picture looks an awful lot like Gaillardia Burgandy to me. This seller has a pretty high rating. Most Rudbeckia hirta will vary from seed. You will probably have some reds, but yellow, orange, and brown came from my all yellow plants this summer. My variations from seed. You can trade them, but let people know they are collected, and not purchased. It may make a difference to some, not to others. I like all rudbeckias and from seed, there is so much variation.

Awwww....feelin' the love!!!! Thanks, ladies! I'm still alive ;) The kids are all well and getting big! Two grandchildren now, and three kids in college. Mackenzie (remember when Bob died, she was 6???) is now in 8th grade. She will be in high school next year! Crazy.

Track me down on fb if any of you are on it.

I spread the chocolate out and made fudge with it. It's sitting in the freezer for a bit (with no coconut. I'm allergic, so nobody gets it. haha)

Lori, sorry. I'm just seeing your post now. I have never tried making it as fudge, but as others mentioned, I don't see why it wouldn't be just as nice cut into squares. Please let us know .
