Sugar - For Baking

Beyond Christmas cookies my mother isn't much of a baker but insists that that Domino (the national brand) sugar (ordinary white) is "different" than the "store brand" sugar when used for baking. I suspect the two might actually come out of the same factory and the only real difference is the packaging.

Any bakers have any comments?
