Lasagna Tsunami

This problem seems to show up more and more with each lasagna I cook.

I make a 6 layer Lasagna. Carefully placing each layer perpendicular to the previous and adding ingredients such as ground pork, ground beef, ricotta, Swiss cheese, sauce, mozzarella, and others.

I usually cook it right away and it ripples, almost out of control. I figured it was happening in the oven. This time, rather than cooking it as soon as it is assembled, I placed it in the refrigerator. The following morning, fresh from the cold, there they were, I am ready to place small surf boards on it.

Maybe they are expanding after they come out of the water.

I cut the noodles to size to fit the pan. I am sure to cook the noodles, time wise, as directed. Next time, I will cook and cool them before assembling or deliberately over cook them.

Anyone else have this problem?
If so, is there a fix?
