Thanks for all your suggestions,we removed the tree a couple of years ago,even rented a stump remover,took that puppy down to nothing,or so we thought,but now we have all these new shoots coming up. I so remember a discussion here about this very thing,I was hoping some one would know how to access back discussions,I know there was sweetner involved some how,ha ha I guess I can just go out and try it eh? My concern is if i can plant in that spot with ot hurting any new plantings. Don, we can't use round up. we go organic,but than you any way. Carol

Karen- There are no dumb questions, just a need to understand. #1 plants are waking up so start feeding and watering. I usually add some Superthrive and give a spray to the claws. As the leaves come, I spray with Spray -n-grow. Like Mike said in another post, you do not want to have too much accumulation of salts so I flush out pots on warm days every few months. Remember, established plants are not like cuttings. Cuttings you keep dry. Established plants have roots but without leaves they do not like to be wet all the time. Let them dry for several days according to the weather. If it is cool, spread out the watering. If warm, every three or four days. Plumies go a long time without rains so I prefer less watering and misting. Always fertilize on wet roots (water one afternoon, feed the next morning) #2 I use high phosphorus all year except the last feeding, Anything will work. I just do not like leggy growth so I keep the nitrogen low. Claws=light feeding and watering. Few leaves=slight increase. More leaves=more food and water more often. Leaves are the engine and they need the fuel so judge by the leaf growth. #3 Plants can remain in pots according to the size. When the plant becomes top heavy or keeps blowing over, size up. You can have a pretty big plant in a five gallon if you root prune after about 3-4 years when the roots are sticking out of the holes. #4 It could be a first year cutting or a second year depending on when it was planted and how quickly it rooted. I think many growers wait for an inflo and then send to market because a flowering plant sells quicker. Bill

Hi! Sorry I was gone all day! I thought they were reasonable. (Considering a slipcover at target was 80.00!!!) I used a seamstress... and it was her BRILLIANT idea.. when I told her I was looked for the cheapest but still chic look!! She charged me around 350 for couch and 225ish for each chair.. the smaller a little less I believe.. around 700 for it all.. She came and cut and pinned here, then sewed offsite.. they have dressmaker details i could not have added, skirt, zippers, seams, piping.. etc Oh, I had to wash all the dropcloths first. to soften em up.. and she ironed them before she brought them back....
