Comments (34)Maddie~ Forget about the rant...nhsuzaane is right..We ALL have had rants here. It helps just to type away and press "post"--very theraputic. Plus, let yourself enjoy the support. And now, I'm going to have a little rant of my own... Maddie, On the job...I have no doubt you like (maybe even love) your job, but there is way too much "job" and not enough of you. Start looking for another position. Even if the auditors find you need more manpower, the company still has to find the funds and get the authorization for it; that could take a long, long time. Right now, it's not a priority for them to help you even learn your job...why would they be motivated to get help for any time soon? Start job hunting now. And BTW, you don't have to find a job at what you went to school for---find something you LIKE---what happened to your auctioning dreams? Or real estate? When we toured that KY mansion together, you really impressed me with your vision on property renovation! You would be a gem in the customer service end of a high-end real estate biz! And you know so much about the history of KY! And---you take on WAY too much in all of these jobs you've had. Take some time and find a job that fits YOU. Enough of this Super-Woman-Set-Me-Up-For-Failure-Cr@p. You are a very, very nice person, but you are taking on too much---because you're TOO nice! You do not have to save the company---just find a job, work as hard as you can, follow your job description, and save money for pleasure vacations and retirement, and BE YOURSELF! Maddie, everyone enjoys being around you. I loved every single minute I spent with you. Your humor, your easy smile, your warmth, and your perky red-headed personality should land you whatever job you want. Please ask yourself if what you're doing is really what you want to be doing...or is it just what you trained for and you don't want to "waste" that $ and education. Perhaps this is why you choose jobs that are so difficult. Do you really want to be doing what you're doig??? People change over time and maybe you should think about your OTHER talents and find a "fun" job to do for a while-one that take advantage of your PERKY personality, your persuasive manner, and natural good looks-instead of your brain! There is nothing wrong with *NOT* having a brainy job! Look at meeeeeeeeeeeeee! I CAN FLY! (and feel like Peter Pan half the time!) Sorry this is so long, but I really think you deserve to be happier. It makes me sad to think your employer doesn't appreciate you or give you the type of working experience you deserve. If the last person was miserable and now you're miserable, buy a paper at lunch and start LOOKING for a new job...try looking in the customer service ads...or real estate! Everyone here will write you a reference, I'm sure. Love you and want you to look forward to going to work! -Beege...See MoreSD hurt, I wanna strangle DH!
Comments (50)cat38 & sweeby~ Yeah. We are all aware of the risks associated with sports. But our kids have mucho athletic prowess, so we allow them to play. As mentioned, both boys (older) played hockey and ran track. One of them broke a collarbone in hockey. The other also was into downhill skiing, but not on a team...just for fun. He broke his arm 3 times over the course of 13 years, and it wasn't even competetive. SD is actually at least as athletic as her brothers, maybe moreso, given the nature of dance. Youngest swims and dances, so no major injuries from sports yet, but she has had stitches....twice! And I suspect she'll have her own set of injuries over the years. It's part of growing up active, I guess. Sure, I'll be thrilled (and surprised!) if none of them ever get injured doing "stuff", but I don't expect that. Mom's been kept in the loop from the get-go. She not furious...she's not even a little mad. I think she knows that it's just part of the game/sport. FD, I'm glad your daughter has been so fortunate to not have any injuries. And I'll bet if you wait long enough, someone on here will suggest that you sue the pencil or paintbrush maker for your nerve damage. Or better yet, your former art teachers for not teaching you proper technique for positioning yourself to prevent injury while painting. (sarcasm intended) Now for the good news: SD saw ortho/sports med guy today. He thinks she will heal well with proper rest and immobilization, and without needing surgery. He agreed that the cast shouldn't have been removed by the trainer, but said that no harm was caused. He (the doctor) removed her cast today and put her in an ankle immobilizer that she can adjust as she heals...and take off for showers. No v-ball or dance for at least another month (so, v-ball is done), and crutches for now. He's going to see her again in a couple weeks. She's still going to see the ankle guy Monday. So, hopefully, she's on the mend... And she's going to help with the musical tomorrow, as planned. She'll be taking tickets at the door, sitting in a tall chair.......See MoreOhhh delicious cheese whiz how I love thee!
Comments (8)Well I found out a little about the chairs. The maker is the United Furniture Company in Ronda North Carolina. The owners, the Philpott family was in business from 1936 to 1969. On the bottom of the chair is says job 55. I'm not sure if that means the year, maybe not. I never knew anyone with this style of furniture so it's hard to put a year on it, maybe the mid sixties? The style...some kind of mixy-do of a few styles? I do not think they were expensive when new but they sure have stood up well after all these years. Nancybee, I'm not sure my oldest son would ever ask for my help for anything. He does ask for food though. It's hard getting everything used and having it somehow go together. When I get frustrated I remind myself how young my youngest is and although he wants things to look nice he knows he is not in the position to be overly fussy. I just hope it's not going to look to hideous to post the "after" here like I promised. However, on my budget how much could the decorating gurus expect?...See Moreswollen ankles
Comments (17)I have severe swelling in my feet and ankles and lower legs. I am supposed to take a water pill every day but I don't. I found if I get enough exercise I can get thru the day ok. If I spend the day sitting or in the car I swell up bad. And it does itch. It itches again as the swelling goes down. This week I have been having to stay in and take water pills. It's too hot to go out during the day anyway. I have replaced about half of my cola intake with lemon water. But sitting at my computer all day isn't helping. I do a lot of sitting during the day. I prop my feet up every chance I get. I have a box under my computer table to prop my feet up on. It helps some. I sleep in an adjustable bed. I have it set up so that I can prop my head up and my feet. I sleep in a wide V. In the mornings my feet are back to normal and doing fine. This is how it was explained to me. Blood vessels are elastic. When your heart pumps (pushes blood) the blood vessels expand and then contract (push back) and this helps the blood move along thru the circulatory system. But (for a variety of causes) the blood vessels in my legs have lost their elasticity and can no longer help push fluid. So gravity causes fluid to collect in my feet and lower legs. Prop my feet up for a while and gravity helps drain it off. Ideally, I would keep my feet propped up at the level of my heart. I sleep with my head propped up cause it helps my breathing. If you have trouble breathing it could be a sign that fluid has collected around your heart and lungs. This makes it very hard for your heart to pump and for your lungs' diaphram to take in air so you can breathe. I have been hospitalized several times for those reasons. Almost again this week. I used to if I was gonna be in the car for a long time, I would wrap my feet and ankles tightly with a big ace bandage. This contained the swelling but may cut off circulation entirely. It's something to consider for a long trip but it is risky. I've often wondered, If I strapped my ankles into one of those inverting tables and hung from it at night like a bat to sleep would I wake up with my head all swelled up?? I think it's best if I just keep sleeping in my V. Just like a bear sleeping in the fork of a tree. Pooh Bear...See Moremustangs81
