What flavoring is needed?

American Chop Suey, or goulash--

Hamburger, a can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce, diced green pepper and onion, garlic, salt and pepper, and macaroni. Now, what do you suggest for seasoning?

I usually make it with just the ingredients you have listed.
It really doesn't need anything else.

Maybe some Tony Cachere's seasoning,
Or a little chili powder,
if you want a bit of 'ooomph'.

Cheese!! You can't have American Chop sui without some mel;ty Velveeta cubes in there.....but no oregano or basil or anything "fancy" or you have something else!!

RE: What flavoring is needed?

I guess Mom made the 'fancy' version, lol. The goulash we grew up with was the same, only with corn, a little oregano and worchestershire. Topped w/ shredded cheddar. It's still one of our favorite comfort foods.

RE: What flavoring is needed?

I'm another for the fancy version. And lots of garlic.

RE: What flavoring is needed?

I like goulash with paprika.
