With such response to the "Intro" thread maybe we can entice a few newbies to TGIF with us. Next thing you know it'll be the WFD thread! pictures are not a prereq!

We are up at the cottage for the next while. We are having..... correction.... Clive is having, a garage built and he is about excited as a guy can be!!!! LOL

Very quiet up here this time of year, nothing exciting going on. I'm going to dye wool for a floral rug I want to hook. It's a new technique for me. I have to dye the wool for each flower in 6 graduated shades of the same colour. Should be interesting!

Sunday some friends of ours who live on the lake are coming for dinner....you can be sure they will be getting POTATOES! Which reminds me all you new folk , and old , be sure jump in on the Potato cookalong.

Happy weekend everyone!

Here is a link that might be useful: Potato Cookalong

We are on our way to watch our high school football team play for the bi-distrcit championship. They are picked no. 2 in the state in District 1-A and are playing the same team that they lost to last year. So, I hope they have a score to settle. LOL

Chase, sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. Have fun hooking and be sure and show us the finished rug. That sounds like alot of work to me, but I am not a very patient person!

Oh I totally understand the garage thing. All work has stopped in my house while DH is redoing his garage. Insulation, drywall, new cabinets and heater. If he puts in a beer refrigerator and a urinal I may never see him again but then maybe I could get rid of that ugly recliner he can’t live without sitting in the living room.

Have a good time with your dyeing my mother dyed the wool for braiding rugs. After she passed away it took me a long time to find someone who wanted and would appreciate the collection of wool she had.

My weekend is going to be just a try at catching up with everything I didn’t get done this week. It will probably include a drive up river because DH is bringing home a new Camaro to play with. Another guy thing!

Have a great weekend everyone!

So you're hooking again Sharon!! And bet you get hooked on dying your own wool.

I'm enjoying my first weekend of "hunter widowhood"-- doing absolutely nothing this weekend ( well maybe I'll fill up the wood box ). I'm not even cooking tomorrow-- have chicken pasties thawing, along with some homemade gravy. I was going to try out the new dessert I want to take to DD's Thanksgiving (Blueberry Lime Tiramisu--a Paula Deen recipe) but it calls for 1 # of marscapone cheese--that's $8.00 just for the cheese-- so the gang gets it untried !

I'm late but clinking to all of you with an Irish coffee. Have a good weekend.

WoooHooo TGIF :) Newbie here that didn't jump on the Introduction thread. I'm from Flagstaff, AZ, love to cook, and I just remodeled the kitchen so cooking is funner than ever! This weekend before Thanksgiving is my friend's annual pre-Thanksgiving stomach stretching party. burp. I think I'm taking the Ritz cracker "Patty Poos", they look like too much fun not to try. I will be spending my weekend trying to get the house cleaned up. I have been down with a bad back for a while and I need to get things caught up. Both my DGD are working on research papers that are due next Monday, I don't think they will be of much help around the house. It does not look like we will be having much fun this weekend. I am looking forward to nice long relaxing Thanksgiving vacation. I only have to cook for 6 this year. Then it's time for Christmas!

Here and clinking with a Vodka & Diet Sierra Mist. Today was fun - started with my second to last metalsmithing class, I finally finished something! I tried to take photos but they are pitiful - I need to find some time when I can shoot in daylight near a sunny window.

This evening I took my boys down to the local high school for their H1n1 nasal mist vaccines. OMG - when we got to the parking lot there were riot police in full gear outside directing people and the police presence in the school was even more intense. I cant believe they were prepared for an all out riot!

Tomorrow is sleeping in and we will leave for the swim meet around 11:00AM. After swim it will be dinner for the kids and DH and I are going out for a well deserved dinner with another couple to one of our fav local bistros. Sunday is football and prep for Thanksgiving. Since we wont have another TGIF thread before the holiday, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy weekend this weekend, and a wonderful and safe holiday week.

TGIF everyone! Clinking with a crown as you might have guessed. LOL

Tonight it's a date with the washing machine...still trying to catch up with towels and bedding from all of the company I've had that last few weeks. Tomorrow I'm doing some yard work. We still have not had a hard freeze down here so I'm pulling out all of the summer flowers and what not and putting in some pansies for now... they will come back strong next march/april. Football, making list for TG, shopping for that, and I'm sure a good nap or sleep in tomorrow or Sunday will happen too!

Tell himself I want to see some pics of the garage....I LOVE my garage as much as I do my kitchen. LOL!!

David

Glad to see this post coming back to life! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi peeps! I am in the "calm before the storm" weekend. Thanksgiving I'll be 2 days in San Diego, come home and have 1 houseguest for 4 days, a day later it's off to Florida for a week of partying in 2 towns. Then the usual end-of-year madness - where to have the company dinner, arranging petsitting and stuff for holiday vacation, copying and gathering for taxes, sending out gifts, yadda, yadda. I won't think about all this tonight. I'll think about it some other time, LOL.

Clinking very soon with I don't know what!

Hey! it's time to **clink** TGIF

Sharon, have a nice weekend up there at the lake, can't blame Clive for being excited about the garage.

Trixietx, hope it's a good football game!

Partst, I had a brand new Camaro in college...would love another one now! (but it would never make it up my driveway in the winter here) sigh

Diane, enjoy a nice quiet weekend, hope your hunters are successful!

Yeschef (Christine) Hi! Welcome to posting. Jump in anytime, it's a lot of fun!

Donna, careful, don't aggravate that back!

Alexa, glad the boys got the mist. Sounds kinda scary tho...

David, hey there big guy... take time to enjoy and have a good nap! BTW, I still have pansies blooming that were planted last May. Guess that tells ya what a cool wet summer we had here.

Nothing much happening this weekend here. I have to work Sat, Sun and Mon... then I'm off till Fri. I've ordered our turkey and just have to pick up a few things at the grocery.

EWWW!! California Avon Lady said a dirty word!!!
I'm just trying to get my head around the fact that "The Holidays" are a whisper away!
I need to do something with that pile of leaves in the front yard....and do some stuff for the insurance on the church, like find out what coverage we have and what it should be!...
No fun plans at all this weekend....:-(...just work work work!
Irish coffee eh? I might join you....

RE: tgif

I am working at the hospital tomorrow morning and then...well, I haven't decided that yet. A friend is having all the girls over for a crafting party, but I am not sure if I'll go or not.

To be perfectly honest, I don't even feel like doing anything on Thanksgiving. My mom is making turkey dinner, but I am not in the mood so we may just beg off and stay home.

Sounds like many of you have busy, fun weekends planned, tho! I think it's supposed to stay fairly warm here all weekend. We've been unseasonably warm the last couple of weeks and I don't mind one single bit!

Clinking with a full-bodied Pinot Noir!

RE: tgif

No big plans for us this weekend. Will has a buddy sleeping over....so he'll be tired tomorrow.I need to bake some cookies for a bake sale, and get out some more holiday decorations, for outside, I guess...and put in my kitchen storm windows....well, I guess I do have plans - LOL.

Oh tonight I went to a friend's house and made a couple of pendants of dichroic glass for my sister for Christmas...my friend has the kiln and is really into it and it was really fun! So, Alexa, I was intrigued by your metal working and would that tie in? I never thought there would be a connection til I saw the post by doucanoe...on conversations. But I "created a couple things - she's awesome about letting you do that and if they turn out, I will post pics!

Sharon, the wool dyeing sounds interesting...I have a friend who is an alpaca farmer and is kind of into dyeing. Good luck to Clive on that garage! Give him a hug from me.

Trixie, I hope your team WON!

Claudia, I hope you got caught up on everything....ROFL at the urinal comment....

Diane, enjoy your quiet weekend...I kind of know how you feel, but mine stretches out longer with any kind of football you can imagine on tv...he's GOT to watch it all...ugh.

Donna, I hope the weekend is more fun than you anticipate - and I am also ready for Christmas! The weather has just not caught up yet....I think mother nature is feeling bad for not giving us any kind of summer at all and is giving us an extended fall.....funny thing is, I LIKE winter at this time of year... just not in March and April or MAY!

yeschef - welcome to the TGIF thread! I LIKE the idea of a stomach stretching party...and I haven't checked out all the threads lately...what are ritz patty poos?

Alexa - I'm intrigued with the metalworking class... and I hope you have a fantastic dinner at the bistro.

David, I agree, I love this thread. And I love that you've had so much company that you need to catch up on laundry! We've had mild weather well into the fall, too and I'm going to be sooooo happy in the spring when I don't have any dead piles of leaves or undeadheaded flowers that were caught by that first snowfall and that I never got cleaned up....ok...does that make sense? LOL.

wow, Gina, busy times! Which dessert did you decide on?

Hey Nancy - hope your weekend turns out to be FUN! Enjoy that time off.

Linda, yep, it amazes me too that we typically get our tree the Sat after Thanksgiving....the weather is just not making me feel like Christmas....but it'd be great to enjoy nice weather into Dec then have some white stuff for Christmas????

Stacy3, check out the "A Cookie Confession..." thread for the secret of Patty Poos. The name may be my favorite part of the concept. YC

Can I still click on Saturday morning?

I love reading what everyone is doing on their free time, or should I say in their busy weekend time.

We had the worst rain and wind storm in 40 years here in the north of the island, where cars were being washed down the ravines into the sea and mud and rock slides were prevalent, electricity off etc. Nothing happened in our garden though so we were lucky. The south of the island felt nothing and had no rain. Weird weather. I think this same storm is related to the terrible flooding now happening in England.

Beautiful sunshine here today and yesterday, with wall to wall blue sky so Wolf and I with my two friends Anne and Lynne are going to have lunch together at the sports club where I go for Pilates and where Lynne plays tennis. It's so casual there sitting on the balcony overlooking the tennis courts and where good food is prepared by the German chef. Anne is going back to England tomorrow but will be back again in January. I will miss my excursion pal, as we both love exploring the island.

So other than the lunch date, I'll probably go walking and taking pictures of the flowers around the town. Life is good!

Bibi, our Siamese had her stitches out yesterday, after an operation to spay her. Turned out she had already been spayed by a previous owner. So the poor little girl was operated a second time without needing it. She's been very good though and let me pop her pills in her mouth without the usual cat/pill drama. We have never found out where she came from as she appeared on our door last June. The vet comes to the house to pick up and deliver, but yesterday he came and took out her stitches with her lying here on my desk.
We're so lucky to have this great service, and he doesn't charge much at all!

Clinking with my Saturday morning coffee.

Have a great weekend all! :-)

SharonCb
