shudder!!!!!

I came home from church and fixed myself a piece of French toast using that good whole wheat bread.....

Browned it slowly in butter and when it was just right brown, I drizzled over it a little maple syrup, poured myself a fresh cup of just made coffee and sat down to read stuff here.

First bite tasted a little funny...but I attributed it to the combo of whole wheat toast, vanilla and maple syrup....next bite was worse but I was reading...3rd bite was awful....and I went and looked at the syrup...it had islands of green mold floating in it!!

That ALWAYS happens to me with real maple syrup....the imitation stuff lasts forever.

Is there a secret to keeping maple syrup? or do I have to eat it all up in a week?
