OT: Halloween Costume Pictures

Hi everyone,

Here are the photos of my costume! I had so much fun at the party and putting this costume together. Wearing it was a lot of fun, too. Enjoy!

The lunchbox was mine from elementary school. It was used as a purse for my costume. The coat was from my Cruella De Vil costume (it was cold outside that night).

Me with Jeannie Allen, a dear friend of ours at the theatre (she LOVED my costume).

Thanks everyone for all the fun ideas. For a while there I was considering having DH be a king and I'd be a court jester. But, the party is on a Fri. night, which makes prep a little more tricky, decided to keep things simple also since we're hosts... so we are going to be the Skipper (DH) and Gilligan (me) from Gilligan's Island.

Such great ideas. Thank you, everyone! Moni, definitely take a picture for us. What are you going to call the costume--"identity crisis?" "Confusion?" I remember that Tom Cruise movie, but cannot think of it right now either. Remember the scene very well. 50 Shades of Gray--very clever and easy. Not sure I would want to do it. Didn't read the book. I asked the question about a costume for myself and for my sister as well. My dear sister lives in the far corner of the Pacific NW, so the "cloudy with a chance of showers" will be great for her as its the weather forecast most days! She also said she could be a "fog bank." Perfect. For myself, I'm kinda liking the "identity crisis" theme. Again, thanks. KTers are the best!

Tradition is that I lay the costumes out before I mail them . . . here they all are: Little Red Riding Hood Alice in Wonderland and The White Rabbit (Both red riding hood and Alice were chosen by DD) Oldest grand wanted to be a witch and her Mom decided that her one year old sister could be a black cat. Witch and the net at the top of the picture is the "cat" costume for the one year old (there is a tail and ears somewhere in the picture). The witch costume I made back in the 70s for DD. It is a new hat and broom. The stars are on the costume because that is where the holes were in the 35 year old costume! Oldest wanted to be a witch again and so did the two year old. I had the pattern from the original costume and so made the 2 year old a witch costume. Those stars are not because of holes but rather because her sister had stars! Which brings us up to this year and the Princess and the Mouse! I do enjoy it but I was most pleased that DGD could wear her mother's costume. Hopefully youngest will as well in a year or two. The other costume I made for DD was a clown costume which she wore for 4 years -- sadly, clowns are now bad . . .it was a cute costume and I still have it! Perhaps when HER children have children, clowns will be in again and they can wear their grandmother's old Halloween costume that their great grandmother made all those years ago! LOL!

Wow, Brad, you dressed just like a friend my oldest daughter had in school, she even had that color hair!

booberry, LOL my one gram always said that I always had feminine looking legs, so I lucked out with loving having to dress up in drag for Halloween lol.

Annie, glad I brought back some memories for you. Cyndi Lauper is one of my all time favorite singers/entertainers. When I walked in to the theatre, I was greeted by most of the partygoers with smiles, laughs and lots of "wows".

I did forget to wear the earrings and one other necklace for the big night, but I'm still happy with the way it turned out :). I made the necklaces out of "pop beads".

Great costume! I was looking forward to seeing it. I had forgotten about pop beads! I'm glad you had fun at the party. I love Halloween. Seemed like it was over too fast this year.

I certainly had a lot of fun with this costume, and Halloween just seemed to go by too fast this year. I already have several ideas (perhaps too many lol, but that's what one gets for having an active imagination) for next year.

I was asking several people on what they liked most about my costume and they said the wig.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Brad. I love your costume. You really brought it all together. I liked Cyndi Lauper from the first time I ever saw her perform. Would you believe, I have some pop beads that were in my late aunt's stuff. I just don't have the heart to toss them. By the way, you have a beautiful smile.

I never thought I had much of a nice smile, but my one idol, Dottie West (yet another singer that may ring bells for some of you) had one of the most gorgeous smiles ever, so I try to show my teeth when I smile for a picture :).

Hold on to those pop beads! They may be worth something someday!
