Caramel sauce ok overnight?

I made a caramel sauce yesterday for a pumpkin pie. It was 1/2 c sugar, 3/4 c cream, 2 T butter and 1 T rum. I had it in Pyrex containers to cool but forgot to put them in the fridge before I went to bed. I would estimate they were out for maybe 16 hours. I assume it's ok given the high amount of sugar but wanted to see if anyone agrees. It will be baked into the pie for almost an hour. Would you eat it or should I make a new batch? I tried it and it tasted fine to me. Thanks!
