5 pies, sautéed mushroom dressing, salmon spread for crackers today. The berry pie is cooling now but I'm going to get dressed, put in a load of laundry before I start my next project - I know better, floppy bathrobe sleeves are not that great in the kitchen. It was blackberry pie, and my robe is white. W coast, it's 7:45 AM here ;)

The pumpkin bread pudding is in the fridge and the potatoes are on the stove getting ready to boil.

I will whip the cream tomorrow.

Did all my shopping in one big swoop yesterday....said that if i forgot something, to bad, no one will starve for weeks here...i've been up for hours and having a nice calm prep, mostly chopping, dicing, bowls and bags of this-n-that, nice neat list. (celery gets three different sizes for four different things). Hate to later come back and chop celery...if i have extra, even better as it will go into soup or something friday.
So today prepping; stuffing, potatoes, pie, cranberry sauce, roasted roots just cut and oil rubbed w/rosemary, not baked till tomorrow.
New this year...i like to make something new for apps....edamame/baby pea humus for snacking, (made crackers last night)
Fresh baby artichokes w/ crispy parm/panko crust in a leek cream.
Now looking for the video how to peel these things easily....saw a good one a few months ago...

Mr Sleeve was up early and made sure the kitchen was spotless, dishes put away, a quick mop of the floor, laundry in dryer...
He likes to do all the chopping prep but weather here is awful and traffic might be also...i'm off work this week...
Forgot dish washer soap, grr. I almost always have a back-up.

My tasks are easy because my sister is cooking -- however, it's a lot of road time for me! I roasted some [volunteer] pumpkins last night and they're excellent -- will make the pumpkin pies and cranberry sauce tonight. I also have a beautiful loaf of GF bread that's hot and fresh from the oven. I may also make an apple dessert -- just because I have too many apples. Wish I also had too many lemons. :O)

Our holiday celebration starts tonight with a community Thanksgiving service that includes four nearby churches of different denominations. This year, our church is hosting so I baked a batch of cookies first thing this morning for the coffee, tea and cookie social time afterwards.

Next up will be finishing a casserole of PA Dutch potato filling to bake tomorrow. I prepped and cooked all the ingredients earlier today. Also have a saucepan of chicken hearts simmering on the stove to cut up this afternoon for the gravy. DD is making two cranberry-orange upside down cakes to share with our neighbors and that's about it. I made a pumpkin chiffon cake last night, which is our main dessert for tomorrow's dinner.

In between, we'll be watching AMC's Gone With The Wind marathon and nibbling on ham salad sandwiches and red lentil and apricot soup.

Not much as youngest DD & her hubby are "hosting" the family this year & doing most of the "real work. I've made pan fried onion dip , Plum Swirled Cheesecake pie, a Pumpkin cake roll , an Apple Cranberry Streusel Custard pie & precooked the green beans for Sweet & Sour Green Beans with Bacon as none of us care for green bean casserole--oh & POOFed & defrosted a Oatmeal Banana blueberry & choc zucchini quick breads-- threw a bottle of a local winery's ( Dill's Run ) Gerwurztraminer wine to chill & packed a qt of Chase's dills & Linda Lou's Sweet chunks.

They're suppose to be 16-18 of us if the weather holds.

Today I'm preparing the Make Ahead Gravy, Paleo Sweet Potato Cranberry Stuffing (fedandfit.com), and the caramel for the Caramel Spiked Pumpkin Pie. All three are hands-on labor intensive, so it will be great to have them done before tomorrow.

I have baked an apple pie and made the cakes for a Victoria Sponge cake. Next on my list is to bake the pumpkin pie and then tomorrow morning whip the cream for the Victoria Sponge and put the raspberry jam between the layers! Dinner is going to be at my son's and he is taking care of everything else.

The mashed potatoes are done. The cut around did make the skin come off easy. For the sweet potato too.

Still need to make the cauliflower mash.

Sounds like a lot of homemade pies and dessert. I confess I just went to the store and bought two pies. They are actually my moms contribution as she is not able to bake or shop on her own anymore.

I'll put together the stuffing, finish deboning the turkey legs, make my ice cream custard, and do as much other prep as I can tonight. Anything to avoid getting dragged into SWMBO's house cleaning frenzy :-(

Oy, did the gravy and the dressing and I am pooped! Don't think homemade caramel is in the cards tonight . . . Roast beef sandwiches for dinner. Really.
