Keeping everything but a microfiber dust rag away from cabinetry surfaces is both common sense and best practice if the owner intends to have a cabinetry coating hold up for a lifetime." Or how about you find a satisfactory coating for your cabinets and utilize your kitchen as a functional workspace... I am building some cabinets for my home this year, I have a UV spray booth big enough to paint a vehicle and could use a great UV coating which has certain advantages. I am not going to, because they are kitchen cabinets and that is overkill. "I have baseboards painted with BIN primer and three thin coats of INSL-X Cabinet Coat semi-gloss in my own home. The finish is durable and resistant to impact." BIN is not resistant to impact. Shellac in general tends to be brittle and BIN is one of the most brittle. It also can bridge on corners if you do have movement. INSL-X is just another version of a waterborne alkyd paint. It is durable, because alkyd paints have always been durable. However, while it might be great for a DIY project, it isn't satisfactory in a production environment, which was what the original question was about. Your defense of INSL-X effectively reinforces my point. Even a coating that is objectively weaker than other coatings can work great. That is largely because there is a coatings arms race now, every coatings company is trying to out engineer the competition and have now far exceeded the needs of most consumers.

@Veronica We’re not finished, we ended up parting ways from our contractor due to a lack of quality in their work. We’ve been doing the finishing ourselves as time and money allows. We ended up casing the opening between the dining room and garage- creating a play area and lounge space. We have a full bathroom and laundry room in the back 1/3 of the previous 1 car garage, with a small closet between the two for toy and game storage. (The header delineates what used to be the garage wall in the photos) The previous garage door opening was bricked in and we had a window placed that matched the size of the other exterior windows. My husband still has some electrical work, trim and other things to finish up.

Thank you. Yes I have the hand held diverter in the wall. I will chill out and place the hand held vertical bar to the left of the shower head. That will work. My hand held diverter is on the lower right side as I planned it on the right originally but I think it will work out fine. Thank you all for the immediate responses. Also you are right it will only be off by one inch. It looks like more so maybe the shower opening ended up a bit larger?(I am not in the same city to measure the width) In any event by the time the shower glass is installed etc. I know it will be fine. If you have a gas line to that fireplace, you need a certified gas technician to remove it and ensure it is safe. Additionally, you need to get someone to send a camera up your chimney. Old chimneys are often unsafe --- missing bits of lining, chunks of mortar, etc. It's not a DIY job.
