Hello Malmason, You can't order from Logees as they can't ship citrus to Texas. Also, you will probably want to purchase from a reputable nursery in Texas that can match you with the right rootstock-grafted trees for your area. Rootstocks make a big difference in cold hardiness and resistance to things like root nematodes for folks who grow citrus in the ground. I suspect, in Houston, you should be able to find a nursery that could help you get the right stock. Good luck! Don

Hello, I've used watertropicals.com several times this season, and have had terrific results with them. The lilies were huge, and they give you the pot and some fertilizer for FREE! I was shocked! (If you fill out their "comment" form, you also get a free plant, along with your other stuff) The catch to the free plant though is that it's only with your first plant order. I ordered some aquatic potting soil and did the form, but no plant. I called them and the lady said it was only with your first plant order. I found Lilypon's also and lot's of other plants REALLY cheap on there. Sorry, I can't stop gushing about these guys!

I feel your pain with the cost of lighting and I hope this may help a bit. I just ordered from lightingdirect.com but in the past used Bellacor for our exterior lights. I switched to Lighting Direct because they offer coupon matching as well as price matching. I shopped around for the bathroom light I wanted - wound up to be $318 everywhere. I concur with others who have noted that growing anything in pots on a rooftop in Los Angeles can be challenging. The relentless intensity of the sunshine is not something East Coasters are used to. Hollywood is a pretty warm area, too - not quite as hot as the Valley, but it is pretty far from the sea breezes and marine layer, and it is at the base of hills that trap a considerable amount of heat. Sunset Zone 24. And roofs can be the hottest and brightest spots of all. If she's in an apartment building with a flat roof, I'd check to make sure she's even allowed to have plant pots up there. I would hesitate to recommend she try to grow anything but succulents and cacti, if even those would survive. I lived in Hollywood for some years, and didn't have anywhere to garden but a bit of courtyard, so I had potted ponytail palms and Euphorbia trigona and things like that. A good garden center closest to her would probably be Anawalt Lumber, which is a very good local home improvement store with a good nursery section. There is also a good cluster of Japanese-owned garden centers over on Sawtelle Blvd. in the West LA "Japantown" neighborhood. Good for big clay pots. I used to be able to find good big pots/containers at the Armstrong Garden Center on Wilshire in Santa Monica. Now I'm getting all sentimental about my former home...sniffle!
