Hi Elizabeth!
We just got back from a quick trip to Whittle's. Oh boy, they were busy. Must have been a hundred kids searching the fields for "their" perfect pumpkin and lots of teens on dates picking apples. It's a beautiful day. They had no organic apples though although they did have a few regular Cortland and Macs. The trees looked mostly stripped already though. Have you tried any other place reasonably near Mystic where you noticed organic apples?
DH picked 5 pumpkins for me to paint and we also got 2 Hubbard squash, 10 acorn squash, about 10 lbs. onions, and a couple of crown looking decorative gourds. On the way home drove by Clyde's Cider Mill. Didn't even try to stop. As always, cars were parked a mile down on both sides of Stonington Rd and the line into the shop snaked 1/4 mile around the yard. We'll go back mid-week when the Columbus Day tourists have headed home.
