| "When an over-zealous regulator shows up at a farm dinner demanding that food be destroyed as hungry guests await, who do you call? Here's Laura's account written as a letter to her guests who had come to Quail Hollow Farm expecting a meal of foods harvested from local small family farms."
I do not watch TV or have access to any news/info except via internet so forgive me if this is old news. |

| How ludicrous. Surely if competent adults wish to consume food in the knowledge that it is fresh from the farm and not processed or inspected, they can sign waivers and eat what they darn well like. |

| That's shocking and absurd. It also made me wish I lived in a small town. Around here, the cops would show up and make everything worse. |
|
| Unbelievable. Well, I wish it were unbelievable, anyway. I have never heard of that organization. I plan to look into it more. Sally |

| "Overzealous regulator" -- but I repeat myself. There are stories like this all the time. Once we let government into so many aspects of life, we end up with people like this filling the jobs. |

| Once you "admit" to having a public event.....and they did by filing for a permit, anything's fair game. What they should have said was this is private, only out friends are coming. Often just saying "What they don't know won't hurt"....and go on about your business is the bast plan. I could give a few examples....but then I would ba admitting something!:-) |

| Unbelievable! |

| Thanks for posting this shocking story. I hope the overzealous inspector & her boss are fired for their abuse! |

| Ludicrous is the right word here, colleenoz. I've not heard of the FTCLDF but I am certainly going to pass this on to the other vendors at our farmers market who have CSA's and conduct "Farm Tours" that include meals, for a small fee. Shoot, I'm going to a goat farm next week to milk the goats and learn how to make cheese, and lunch will be served as part of the fee. I hope no inspector comes to visit like they did in Nevada! There are ridiculous rules trying to be tweaked further and enforced by the Ag Dept's against the "back to the soil" farmers who want to go their own organic way and not support big food conglomerates. Looking around, that is exactly what the Ag Dept's seem to want to do -- eliminate the little guy and have a scenario like the movie background in "Rollerball" where conglomerates are the rulers (not historical governments or geography). At the last inspection of my canning and baking kitchen, my State's Ag Dept inspector had to call his boss to see if my canned apple pie filling was considered "juice", which falls under different State and FDA rules than my jams. He could not get an answer but told me not to try to sell it until he got an answer from on high (which was months ago and no word yet). My, that would be really, really chunky juice, don't you think? Nancy |

| All I can do is shake my head..... I wish government would get back to doing what they are hired to do, and quit trying to protect us from ourselves. We are losing our freedom at an alarming pace. Linda |

| Wow. I have my own stories of dealing with the state and feds when I ran a citrus farm. It's appalling and a waste of taxpayers' money, in most cases. ajh |

| I got to the part where she had to throw out her first course. Angry tears. I couldn't go farther. Could not. We need to take back our rights. It's just so wrong what is going on. Everywhere. :( |
