Question about canned ground beefâ¦

I receive a couple of cases of canned ground beef this last Friday. Upon inspection I found most of the cans popped when pushed on the bottoms. I emailed the supplier and there reply has me confused.

I was under the impression a can of anything should be tight with no movement on the top or the bottom. This is there reply:

âÂÂThank you for addressing your concerns with us about your 14.5oz. ground beef you recently received. Please let me start by assuring you that your canned meat is fine. 14.5oz. cans in particular are prone to trapping air during the filling process. Typically if you shake the can, then press down on the end it will stay down. Since you are able to "pop" the bottom and or top, this means that the product is good. If a can has a bulge and you CANNOT "pop" the top and or bottom in and out that means the product is spoiled and bacteria is growing and it should be thrown away. âÂÂ

Does this sound right?
