Have You Heard of These??

Hello to all!
I had no idea where to ask this question, so thought I'd try it here.. If anyone has a suggestion for me to ask this in another forum, please let me know!
About a month ago my girlfriend brought home one of the most delicious melons I've ever eaten, and she bought it at Sam's Club.. She didn't remember it's name, but the taste was like a GIANT PEAR!! Since I love pears, I was in heaven.. Unfortunately since then, we have not been able to find out what kind of melon this was.. I'm hoping you guys will have some info on this!! The melon in question was smooth skinned and either a light yellow, or pale in color.. That's about the only info I can give right now, since we ate it so quickly!!
Thanks in advance for any info you might have...

That would describe a number of oriental melons.

Because of where you bought it, my guess would be it's one of the new widely-available Chinese hybrids (like the ones from Sandstone, although it doesn't sound quite like any of theirs).

It's probably a Chinese Hybrid Hami Sweet Melon. You can ask at the fruit forum, and they may have more info.

I get a perverse satisfaction out of weeding my flower beds. Especially dollarweed…if I let it go it takes over my beds. I actually really like most plants called weeds because, like Pea, I admire their tenacity. And if you look closely at their (usually) tiny flowers they are just as pretty as larger ones. My issue with weeds is that tey grow so well that they often choke my "flowers". But on my acre property they are allowed to do whatever they want anywhere except in the beds. That means that most of my yard is theirs! There, I don't feel so bad for yanking them out.

ILoveComputers - repeated attempts to clear the sudsing have apparently been to no avail so my guess is that either someone put liquid dishwashing detergent in the rinse aid dispenser or the rinse aid dispenser is dispensing too much product, set at too high of a dose or malfunctioning (although it should be near to empty by now after as many runs). Rinse aid dispenser malfunction is also evidenced by the refill light triggering after 4 to 5 loads ... a full-fill of it should last much longer under normal conditions. Remove the fill cap and use a turkey baster to suck out the remaining fluid in the rinse aid dispenser. Then use the baster to flush the dispenser with water ... repeatedly squirt water in and then suck it out and dispose in the sink until it's clear. Some designs don't have a removable cap, in which case you can just keep squirting water into the dispenser to overflow it onto the door until it's clear. It's a good idea to sop-up the water on the door before closing it so the water doesn't run down and under bottom edge of the door when it's raised up.

Good news, but I hope she doesn't over do when she starts feeling better. The health department here is seeing people start to feel better, do to much to soon, and relapsing. Continuing prayers.

I just had my dogs teeth cleaned and a tumor removed at the vets this past Monday. Honestly, their protocols were more strict and their office more clean than some (most) of the clinics I have to visit for work. They will most likely have you wait in the car until they can bring your dog in, they may or may not allow you to come in as well. My Vet checks people out while they are still in the room. If I’m buying medication, they bring the meds and the visa machine out with them to my car. Everyone is masked, they have air purifiers in every room. I don’t know if it’s just my vet who’s like this or most all, but I really appreciated their attention to the details. Wear your mask, try to stay socially distant, wash your hands as you’re able and you should be safe. As for your dog, way back in the very beginning I heard about 1 dog they believed had covid, but nothing was ever confirmed and I’ve not heard anything else to suggest it is an issue.

FWIW, the "Kiss" melons are all hami varieties from Sandstone.

If you're in an area with Publix, they usually have at least a few of them lately.

Difficult to say.

The same variety, from the same plant, on the same farm, the fruits from that plant can taste good one year but not the next.

This is just a wild guess, but would it be a jicama? I just discovered them this year, and they taste much like a pear, but crisp like an apple or a water chestnut. Did you have to peel it?

Ooops, I guess I missed the part where it was a melon. Sorry. Ignore my thought of it being a jicama

It wasn't just a honeydew melon was it? I've never thought they tasted pear like but it sounds like what they look like.

I've grown an Asian melon called 'Sun Jewel'--oval, creamy white to yellow, creamy white inside. Kind of pear tasting.

Thanks to ALL OF YOU for providing this info on the delicious melons I described.. After talking with my girlfriend last night and showing her pics, she seems to think it was a Hami Sweet Melon.. Now the question is.......are they still at Sam's Club and are they seasonal.. Time will tell! The search continues....:) Thanks again!!
