Maybe 3-4 years ago I used a store brand confectioner's sugar for dessert frosting. I thought it was awfully starchy tasting. Attributed it to being a cheap brand.
Remembering that, today I used C&H brand sugar and it tastes even starchier than I remember last time.
I think years ago the confectioner's sugar label indicated either 2 or 3% cornstarch. Now I cannot find a percentage on the label.
Am I overly sensitive, or have these sugars gotten overly starchy?
My simple buttercream frosting tastes like a mouthful of butterstarch. Not pleasant.
If anyone knows of a confectioner's sugar that is not so starchy, I would like to note it in my recipe book for next time. Even if I have to special order it, I'm interested.
Thanks.
