Saute Par-Boiled Rice?

jeri

I know that sauteing long grain white rice will help prevent the grains from sticking together in the finished product. I also know that using Par-Boiled (Converted) rice will do the same thing. So, my question is: Is there any benefit to sauteing Par-Boiled rice?

Second question: I'm making a rice pilaf with Orzo. I have found 2 recipes that I like. One calls for sauteing the Orzo in butter until brown, the other says to dry toast the Orzo until brown. I will still use butter to saute the chopped onion, but I'm wondering if dry toasting the Orzo might give me a firmer and browner end product? I made it the first way last night because it was easier to just saute the onion and Orzo at the same time, but I thought the Orzo was mushy in the final product and somehow lost it's darker color - I was hoping it would be distinct from the rice, but it wasn't.
