This Weekend's Workday Goodies :-)

Hi everyone,

For this workday, I am making Old Fashioned Peach Cookies and the standard orange and mint iced tea I've made many times before.

The cookie recipe only takes five ingredients: yellow cake mix, peach pie filling, 2 eggs, 1 cup finely chopped pecans, and sugar (for over the top). They sound delicious! I hope they turn out okay.

I bet the cookies and tea are a big hit.... What's not to like!

If you are a big fan of shortcut recipes, which are recipes that include a cake or brownie mix, refrigerated cookie dough or ready-to-eat cereal as time-saving ingredients, you would enjoy a copy of "The Ultimate Shortcut Cookie Book" by Camilla V. Saulsbury. The author was the winner of the Food Network's "Ultimate Recipe Showdown" Best Cookie Recipe and the book has over 800 recipes for cookies, bars, biscotti, brownies, desserts and special treats.

I like cookies and i like ice tea, but I like cookies with hot tea. It's just me. :-) I guess you are not inviting me.

I also don't like "Old Fashioned". I like "Traditional" or "Vintage" better. Now you will not talk to me again. LOL!

Ok, ladies, I'm a bit late with mine, but been a hectic week to say the least. Oh, almost forgot to say how much I LOVE all of your purchases, real great eye candy!! We were out & about Saturday & ended up near a Value City store, I can't resist checking it out if I'm near one, but wasn't looking for dishes or tablewear at all. Anyway, on our way to check out there was a clearance table, it held two lonely place settings, one in a brown & one in an apple & pear. I'm saying one setting of each, that is all. Well, I had to look at them, they were marked down to $4.00, must have been the display sets. Then under the tag it said "cashier will deduct 50%"! HAH! I asked DH if I was nuts buying two place settings and he said to buy them for that price ($2.00/each) figuring I could use them on the counter with some type of seasonal vignette. Anyway, I also have a VC preferred card, well the cashier said if I had one my entire purchase was another 10% off, so each place setting was a whole $1.80!!!! Here they are, figured I can use the apple/pear after Easter & before summer & the brown set for fall with pumpkins & gourds.

Thank you, everyone! Ann, I think the food is the main reason my theatre group likes having me around lol. Nancy, we made deviled eggs at the Halloween party I had with my friends last weekend, but we didn't add the horseradish since a few people didn't like spicy ingredients. I didn't add much to this batch, so they're not spicy, but they still taste good (at least the filling did). Dh and I decided to spare each other the 'going out to shop for something you may not want or need' experience this year. We've just decided to wait until the mad rush settles down in the stores and go out and buy ourselves a goodie. I need a new purse, and I'm sure to want something quilt-related from the fabric store when they start marking down for clearance. I already bought a new, more powerful sewing machine a month ago......so I'm not feeling particularly 'needy' in that respect. My Dear G'son pulled my name in the family gift exchange, and got me a gift certificate to the local kitchen store. I have to admit I am as addicted to cooking as I am sewing, and I'm sure I'll have fun shopping there.

TEQUILA SUPREME TWIST CL VICTOR BORGE WATERCOLORS HOME RUN WEDDING CAKE And here's some other stuff .... This is a DRACUNCUS VULGARUS or VOODOO LILY. It's an interesting, weird thing that has the most horrible odor! My husband asked WTH smelled so bad out front, then he remembered... "oh it's that weird plant you have out there that attracts flies!" I thought I had dug it out a couple of yrs ago... but apparently it left some babies... Potato bloosoms on my purple potatoes.. BOWL OF BEAUTY peonies with WHITE DIAMOND in the lower corner These are some of my HORTICO babies waiting to either get potted up or planted in the ground Oh, and I forgot to put this one up above... I just like cookies and tea, whether hot or iced.

Give them to me "vintage" or "traditional" or "old fashioned", I'll still eat them.

Yeah, I'm easy to please when it comes to cookies...

Annie, the tea and the cookies were both a hit, and I even wrapped up a dozen for a fellow member and I still have more than enough for myself and my parents LOL.

Brad, that's the good thing about a batch of cookies, there are usually enough to share with some left over, but not enough to get stale before you can eat them!
