Upright Freezer with Reversible Doors
Comments (0)Does anyone know of a largish (~20 cu ft) upright freezer that has reversible doors (or hinges from the left side)? We had been looking at the Kenmore Elite 28099 until we discovered that the door only opens to the right, and that won't work for us. Ive found two: An Amana AQF2013TEW, but it only has manual defrost, and I don't want to deal with that. The other is a Whirlpool EV209NBTQ which has two doors (it might be okay) Anyone know of anything else?...See Morereplacing upright freezer
Comments (3)I just got a Fridgidaire frost free. I have had it only a couple of months but I am happy with it. It has an interesting quirk. When you close the door, something seems to suck the air out of the freezer and you can't open the door for a few seconds....See MoreFreezer defrost problem
Comments (1)You'll have to do further investigation on the individual components ... suspect the defrost heater first, then the thermostat, then the timer. Note that the defrost thermostat must be cold to trigger the heater. The heater can't come on if the unit is still "warm" after you unplugged it for manual defrosting....See Moresmallish upright freezer - Summit, Frigidaire, Liebherr
Comments (15)Just be sure to look hard at the reviews for whatever Liebherr you are looking at. The home we are renting for the duration of the remodel has a Liebherr, and I loathe it. The ice maker doesn't work (it has broken three times, once it broke a week after it was "fixed"), but of course we can't remove it, and it takes up the vast majority of one of the freezer drawers. It keeps the temperature we set very unreliably. For some reason, it always wants to default to 44 degrees. Water kept in there is not cold enough - and we've already been having to buy bagged ice because the icemaker broke! There's been food spoilage for this reason too. Sometimes we use this "supercool" button that is supposed to cool down the freezer quickly if, for instance, you have just loaded it with a bunch of warm leftovers. So far, it has not worked, but the fridge acts like it is possessed by a spirit who is trying to communicate with us by beeping - loudly - in Morse code. Obviously most people love their Liebherrs and this one is clearly a lemon. Just...check. Best of luck! Bean...See Moresushipup1
