would you use a lot more if you didn't have to dig them out from awkward places?

I would give my kingdom for MIL's back porch off the kitchen with full shelves for my:

Bread maker
Industrial meat slicer
Rice maker
Stock pots
Crock pot
Cast iron skillets

RE: What utinsels or appliances

I use everything I have now that the kids are all grown up, LOL. Of course, the kids have been gone for years, but it took us quite a few more years do this, but we finally converted one of the spare bedrooms to an pantry-plus. DH put up a couple large gorilla shelves and bought a few storage cabinets and I brought out all of the things that were hard to get to and put them on those shelves. Canned and boxed goods and extras (multiples of items bought on sale, like shampoo, toothpaste, dish soap, etc.) go in the cabinets. The appliances take up just as much room as they did in the kitchen cabinets, but now I can see where everything is and I don't have to get down on my knees and dig for it.

Another bedroom has a computer and sewing machine in residence and is also where I go to iron (not TOO often), wrap gifts, etc. We did save one room for a guestroom, LOL.
