Some basic questions as I have recently replaced the older appliances in our home. What type of range are you currently cooking on? Do you already have a gas range/cooktop? The reason I ask is that when your used to one type of heating switching can be a surprise. I've had the Frigidaire FGGF304DLW (in white) all gas double oven range. I've only had it for a week so I'm still getting used to it. So far I really like to double oven feature. We've only used the larger oven once, but the small upper oven preheats quickly. Can't really comment on temperature uniformity/accuracy but the temps don't seem far off. The one surprise is how much heat is 'wasted' on the cook top with the sealed burners. We had an older (not sure how old) coil top electric stove before. If I try to boil a cup and a third of water in a 6" diameter pot (an AllClad) it seems to take longer than the old coil stove. Also we've found out that our over the range microwave has a overtemperature feature that turns on the exhaust fan. It had never gone off before. I'm still on the learning curve so I won't give a full review. Just to let you know if your going to a different system, you may be surprised at how different it is. If your already using a sealed gas cook top, it might not be that different. The Consumer Reports appliance review did mention that even the electric smooth top ranges are more efficient than the 'consumer' gas ranges they reviewed. In terms of your other selections, we have Kitchenaid DW and cabinet depth french door fridge that we are happy with. Also look at the 'distributor's' in your area. These are the companies that sell directly to builders, they may also sell to consumers. I'm in Cincinnati and the one I've dealt with has come close to on-line prices (definitely beats big box stores). Also see if there are stores that have scratch and dent show rooms. Often the slight damage is in the unexposed area.

Panasonic microwave oven model NE-7850 (700 watts) purchased in 1983 and still running. Replaced light bulb, fuse, turntable belt (turntable belt was the most recent replacement, July 2009.) I love the layout of the touch pads, it just has four buttons for time entry. 10 minute, 1 minute, 10 second, 1 second. So if you wanted 5 minutes and 30 seconds, you would hit the 1 minute button 5 times and the 10 second button 3 times then start. Six power levels. Auto Cook, Auto Defrost by weight. Push button pull handle. Built solid and very heavy. Quiet. Realizing this thing wont last forever I replaced it with a Panasoinc NN-H965B but hanging on to the old one. The new Panasonic can't compare to overall quality of the 26 year old model. Already I don't like the push to open button under the touch pads. Door gets all finger prints from just closing the door and it's black, not stainless. Very noisy fan, way noisier than the old one. Very hollow sounding when closing the door and light in weight. Closing the door pushes the whole oven back if it's not against the wall. It has a good button layout and is not confusing but display is not as clear and looks washed out (especially when not viewing the display at eye level, this is a countertop model so you do look down at it). I know I'll never get 20 years out of it but I'll have the old one to fall back on.

Angela12345, we would consider black & so thoughtful of you to include the link - quite a variety of RangeCraft styles! - am just having difficulty envisioning anything of the bulk apparently required. Thinking I should get busy building a cardboard mock-up, although we haven't done any demo yet so spatial volume & ceiling height of kitchen-to-be are only in our minds right now. Plenty of blue tape marking things out on the floor, though... SparklingWater, it's so helpful to get your KA experience. Our current fridge is a bottom-freezer Whirlpool that we bought in 1992, & in 20 years it has never needed a single repair. I cringe reading appliance reviews and realizing that the chances of finding that quality again are slim-to-none! Come to think of it, was just reading the resurrected toaster thread, and our Salton long-slot toaster is from 1991 (still chugging along), and our Panasonic microwave is from 1990 and has only needed 1 repair. The Whirlpool will replace the REALLY ancient fridge that previous homeowners left in our basement (changing of the back-up fridge guard); even at 20 yrs. old we expect it will result in energy savings compared to the one down there now. Guess we haven't been doing our part to keep appliance manufacturers in business up to now!

Don't worry about mixing appliances from different manufacturers. It's not something noticeable when the project is done. Choose appliances that have the features you want (and don't have the features you don't need); have control panels that are easy to use; and are well organized for how you plan to use them. When I was shopping for refrigerators and dishwashers we noticed there are a lot of variations in how interior space is partitioned and several appliances we thought were strong contenders were crossed off the list because the interior spaces weren't well laid out.
