Baking quick/tea breads in a cake pan?

From time to time, my husband enjoys quick/tea breads with peanut butter for breakfast. Our favorite local barbecue place serves banana bread with its meals. It's a square rather than a slice, so I'm assuming that it's baked in some sort of a cake pan. I'd like to do the same thing. I also think this technique would be perfect for baking in my toaster oven during the hot summer months.

So my question is, if I'm following a recipe that would call for a 9 x 5 loaf pan, what size of cake pan should I use? 8x8 or 9x9 or something else altogether.

I usually freeze the breakfast things I bake, so I think a square chunk of banana or blueberry bread would be easier to deal with than a slice. I'm looking forward to experimenting, but I'd like some general guidelines. Thanks.
