Making tomato sauce with summer squash?

DH and I are going to be spending the weekend in the kitchen making tomato sauce for the freezer. I don't skin or seed the tomatoes. Just cut out bad spots and toss them in the blender, along with bell peppers (and sometimes a jalapeno or two), onions, garlic, celery, carrots, and the odd vegetable I might find in the crisper. Add oregano and basil and cook until it thickens (basically goes from a full pot to a half a pot).

Here is my question: I have an abundance of summer squash of several types - kuta, zucchini and patty pan. I'm wondering if I can toss some of them in the blender with the rest of the sauce ingredients. Anyone ever done this? Opinions, please.
