Thanks you all. After wishes are just as appreciated. Smiles. It was a good day and it's been a good weekend so far. We still have tomorrow. The canning has gone pretty good, but it sure is hard with two old ladies with bad backs one of which uses a cane, to haul all that hot water and such and schlep the stuff around the kitchen, clean all the jars from basement,. etc.. etc.. lol. Did a few dills and some tomatoes. Meanwhile dragging the canning stuff from the pantry closet[which is an under the stairs kind of deal so it goes far back but gets shallow] caused me to have to clean and rearrange that. I've just about killed Christy. She may never take another day off. LOL. Omg. Lars.. you made me laugh so hard. I read your post to Christy and she said.. "Jerseylicious..you... NOT..", then she proceeded to kill herself laughing. ..lmao.. omg.. good one. Don't have the accent. My hair is long and I've only had it cut professionally once in my adult life and that was a trim. I cut it myself. No hair products, except shampoo. Some eye liner and mascara sometimes. No animal prints..ever..lol.. I wear long cotton tshirt dresses or long tshirts and shorts/pants. Sorry if this disappoints.. smiles. Btw, around here we call that part of NJ.. New York New Jersey.

And I'm so sorry to be so late thanking you all!! Thanks for starting the thread Ann T, how very nice of you. I did have a really nice birthday. I had made some fresh pasta sauce and froze it so Christy made me some gnocchi to go with it. It took a while this year but we finally found a place with the best corn ever, and you know that's saying something for me. So, we had a couple ears of corn too. A nice devils food cake with cream cheese icing and a nice birthday feast was had. I have been getting back into canning a bit, so Christy gave me this nice rack to put the cases of jars and supplies on as well as the jars of food. I cut a finger rather bad on the slicing blade of my new food processor so I'm just getting back to using that and hope to get to canning some this week. Here is my lovely rack. It's 5 shelves. Took a break from starting to put things on the shelves to take pic but at far end are some jars of beef broth and a few of the peach preserves I did last week. Rack is in the hallway. Closest woodwork is dining room doorway and at far end you can see edge of kitchen doorway. Thanks for all the well wishes, they really are appreciated, despite my slow response.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I sure did enjoy the day. The crabs were excellent. I took my time and spent almost an hour and a half picking my way through 3 crabs. LOL. Needless to say the corn didn't make it. The cake was really good and there is tons of it left. I was going to freeze some today but it will have to wait until tomorrow. I found out that rascal Jessie likes crabs too. LOL.. (there are more crabs in the freezer)

Thanks Everyone. We can use the rain, so I don't mind it cooling things down. Yesterday we got a new roommate and her adorable english bulldog Hurley. They arrived from Texas. She's going to help out around here, and she likes to cook, so I now have a sous chef. Yayy..lol. Christy brought home a cake for me from my favorite Italian Peoples Bakery! Whipped cream icing and I suspect fresh strawberry filling. We'll cut it tonight. Not sure what we'll have for supper, but I'm thinking a nice big shrimp remoulade salad sounds good, with a healthy serving of Jersey Tomatoes on the side. Smiles. I think supper tomorrow should be Jersey Corn, to start the Texans off right.

Thanks everyone. A nice new adventure for the coming year.
