I have vintage yellow and cobalt blue dinner plates, well-worn by use and the dishwasher, that I use for most dinners. No display.
But here is an inspiration photo I like a lot.

Mine look exactly like this, except that I do not use shelf liners. I have mostly cobalt blue but also some light blue bowls, cups, and saucers. I seem to remember having some light blue plates, but I must have stored those in the garage. I do not have nearly enough cabinet space, especially for dishes, and I would store them in the dining room if I didn't have paintings in the way. We don't need a whole lot of dishes, since there are only two of us, and we seldom have guests, not that I would not like to. I had dinner parties all the time when I lived in San Francisco, but people seem to gather in restaurants in Los Angeles instead of people's houses. I hate parties at restaurants, especially since each guest is expected to pay a percentage of the total costs. I mention parties because "fiesta" means party.

I've been wanting to get all new dishes but have not found a pattern that I like. My boss did a line of dinnerware that was sold at Neiman-Marcus a few years ago (when I was not with her), and I liked her patterns but would like to create my own line as well.

I had a complete collection of cobalt blue when I was married. Alas, when I left him, I also left the dishes.

I just bought corelle, winter white, and love it.

But honest, I love the look from Fiestaware... even if I like the presentation of food on all white best.

I remember Fiestaware from when I was a girl in the 1950's. My mom had lots of it and I remember the plate colors as yellow, turquoise and a medium coral. It seemed to be susceptible to chipping (or maybe it was my imperfect dishwashing skills) and she replaced it with other dishes after about a decade but kept some of the accessory pieces like beverage pitchers and mixing bowls.

One of our daughters collects (and uses) vintage pink Boontonware. I was able to snag a group of 47 pieces a few weeks ago and can hardly wait for Christmas to surprise her with it.

Ruthanna, is that the melamine stuff? Your daughter is going to love it, I think.

No FiestaWare here, although I love the turquoise color and the lime green ones. Between Elery's dishes and my dishes, we already have way too many to buy any more.

I always said I might get some to match the new kitchen but we both have white, so that's not a good excuse either, LOL.

I'm a yard saler who rarely spends more than $5 on an item UNLESS it's REALLY special. Was out driving around one Saturday a few years ago and stopped at a sale. On a table were 2-3 cereal/soup bowls for $1 each. My sister had recently bought 8 settings of FW (4 jewel tones) and I thought who couldn't use a few spare bowls? Seller said she had a lot more! I totally SPLURGED and spent $50. Came home with 12+ place settings... dinner plates, salad/sandwich plates, bowls, and mugs. Plus about 6 spare bowls, a gravy boat and a sugar/creamer on a little plate. This isn't "vintage", but NO cracks/chips and any signs of wear/use I hadda really LOOK to even see. I was a very happy camper!

I just love dishes...and have recently became involved with the feista ware......so many colors....first the red....then yellow.....the two mixes well and sets a pretty table......then the new pink and the lime green....I do not have the perfect spot to display but have a huge wall cupboard that is built in this old house, so I do have room. I like to set pretty table settings even if it is just a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of water. I then feel I have set down to a meal. shirl 36

I have a Fiestaware story, but not a nice display (it's stuffed in a corner cabinet with my odd and assorted old pottery).

When I met DH, he'd bought property from a 'dumpster diver' who had built a cabin on the property using materials he, ahem....salvaged. DH hauled load after load of trash off the place.

He had this stack of dishes in assorted colors...turquoise, navy blue, green, yellow, ivory, orange. I thought they were hideous, but after awhile I appreciated the sturdiness and color combinations. So I started picking it up at yard sales...keeping what I wanted and trading what I didn't want with an antique dealer.

It was just a few years ago when DH admitted he'd pulled the dinner plates and the 'practical pieces' out and hauled a 55 gallon cardboard drum full of Fiestaware to the dump. I coulda killed him....At least he had sense enough to keep the footed comport.

I've been recently collecting as well....I have had some great finds and have been doing lots of research and have been able to date most of my items for the most part...I have come across two items that are too difficult to date or price...one is a white "cereal" bowl with four stripes or bands each in a different Fiestaware color...I'm pretty sure it's 80's but the colors are throwing me off as to the decade it came from...my second item is a tom and jerry mug in yellow...I might have been tricked but I just had a very strong feeling about it....'my two concerns are this...it has no label but I know that fiesta first started they didn't use labels so in that case if there is no label how else do I identify it...the other is I have other mugs that I do believe are from the 80's with rings around the lid and they are bigger in size than the yellow I just found...the yellow is smaller and as no rings on lid...I tried to use other people's posting of supposedly "original" 1936 Fiestaware items and they seem to be very very similar to my yellow one...but mine without label...any help or advice? I can email pics if you contact me...

Hi - just a few pieces here - mostly yellow vintage + 1 lovely sea green serving bowl that unfortunately has some cracking in a ring around the inside bottom. It's all squirreled away in the top of my kitchen cupboards: 2 of the flattened serving bowls, 1 covered bowl w/ handles & a large deep mixing bowl that I actually do use occasionally for parties, a large cobalt plate & a slightly smaller yellow plate.

I've been a collector of all kinds of vintage cooking & serving & dinnerware for many years & finally had to stop because I ran out of room & hardly anything matches! I did it on the cheap as well - never paying more than a dollar or so per piece - often much less. Believe I paid less than $5 ea. on most of the Fiesta pieces - & a couple were free.

Heather was a little before my collection err hoarding started :) I'd like to add a few pieces some day it's really nice color.
