Frugal kitchen tips :)

I love to reuse/recycle and just thought I'd share a couple of my discoveries...

Awhile back I lost another of my plastic food/pan scrapers,... the kind that cost at least a few bucks. I needed something to scrape a pan though, so I took a sour cream container and cut some scraper-size pieces from the sides of the container. These things are better than the scrapers I was buying! they're strong and flexible and the natural curve in them is very useful! So far I haven't lost one either. lol!

Another, perhaps more obvious reuse: I save the plastic mesh bags that things like lemons and onions will sometimes come in (cut away any tags or staples). When I need a plastic "scrubby" I fold/scrunch the plastic mesh piece(s) and tie in the middle with a small piece of cotton string, fluff the outside ends a bit, and scrub away.

I thought these were neat discoveries, but maybe I don't get out enough. :O)
