Beef Stew Questions

Hi everyone,

Mom bought me a cast iron cookbook from a catalog not long ago (along with a few gardening books). It's more for the camping type Dutch Ovens and the old fashioned cast iron skillets. However, I found a few recipes I'd like to try in my kitchen Dutch Oven. One being this beef stew recipe I'd like to make for my neighbors sometime. I'm thinking of modifying a few ingredients, like adding a can of French Onion soup. The recipe notes that chopped tomatoes and mushrooms (an ingredient I was planning on adding) may also be used.

The best part of the cookbook is the cooking instructions. It tells you how to cook your recipe indoors or outdoors. The indoor/stovetop-oven recipe says to cook it at 275 degrees for about three hours. Would it make a difference if I used my kitchen-style Dutch Oven?
