National Donut Day

In honor of the day I made a recipe of Chocolate Donuts found at the link below. A nice gluten-free recipe I made in my mini-donut maker and dusted them with powdered Swerve (taste a little like a brownie). The recipe makes 6 donuts, but in the mini-donut maker I made 18.

Neither Dunkin Donuts nor Krispy Kreme are even in MN anymore. Dunkin was, well, OK, except the lousy coffee, but back when Winchell's was around they were far better than Dunkin. Krispy Kreme? Didn't impress me at all. I guess we have enough bakeries with good stuff that the big dogs couldn't compete with the mom & pops. Eh, probably not, but still kind of gives me a warm, sugary feeling if that's what happened. :) Oh and we do have a lot of places with good stuff.

well I can't remember the last time I ate a donut so I kinda doubt it, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying a bite. I do love sweet and savory together, my husband doesn't. We both like egg sandwiches on occasion. We are both avoiding this kind of stuff, you know come to think about it I don't think I have ever been in a Dunkin Donuts or had one, I have years ago had Krispy Kreme which was super sweet.

I want an E. cactus too! I've been into houseplants since my early 20's, and was lucky to work in a local greenhouse during both pregnancies after we moved to a rural area. I'd never lived in the country before and wasn't familiar with what grew here other than wheat. :) One day I took a walk to the pond while DH was at work and found what I thought was a rare plant. Somehow I got it out of the ground and brought it home. Never.again. Hate them with a passion, and they are pests! I haven't seen a Prickly Pear in years. Worse than bullnettle.

Thank goodness the Krispy Kreme donut shop closed next to my gym! Every time I finished a workout and would go to the car...the Krispy Kreme Hot Light would be flashing (indicating they were just out of the oven) and I couldn't resist.

I gave blood this a.m. and they were saying that it was free donut day at dunkin' donuts, so I went, but found I had to buy a beverage. I didn't need the beverage and DH didn't need the donut so I passed. I haven't had a donut in about 4-5 years. It has so little nutritive value...all saturated fat and sugar.

Yes, indeed, all saturated fat and sugar, I love 'em. I don't have them often but VanBrocklin's Bakery in Big Rapids was voted one of the 10 best donuts in Michigan by MLive readers, so I got a bear claw.

Yes, I know, not really a donut, but they're really, really, good.

Annie - there's a place here called Fleming's Donut Shack that makes an incredible apple fritter. Yeasty, gooey, fried goodness. Sounds like your bear claw. Doesn't need a hole in the middle lol.

Some days we need saturated fat and sugar, and nothing else will do!

We don't need much, just one doughnut's worth.

Maybe just a sugar raised donut from Dunkin' Donuts once a year.

Seagrass, I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I don't want a hole in the middle of those, they're so good I want every last bit!
