The bigger one is a phalaenopsis and the smaller one is a mystery. We rescued it from a terrarium where it looked really unhappy. I haven't seen it bloom yet so I have no idea what it is. It has roots and not bulbs if that helps. The sphagnum is "Mosser Lee Long-Fibered Sphagnum". I've included the link below for more information. The glazed pot is bad? Really? It's an orchid pot with lots of holes on the sides. It seems like the plastic would be much worse since it only had holes at the bottom. Granted, I can't see the roots anymore but I feel like the orchids will get a lot more air around their roots in the new pots. I guess my main concern was that I didn't want to over-saturate the moss with water. Perhaps I should see how the moss acts before I start to worry. Thanks for your help! That died due to girdling roots. One cause of which is planted too deep. another is was in container too long.

With cuttings, anything can go wrong, but I would focus on hydration/heat, first, then the mix you're using second. On a 95F day, plants can dry out very fast. A small cutting can't pull water fast enough from the soil to keep up. You also have to be careful about transplanting them into a mix that's too hot. I normally pot up in pro-mix, which has zero fertilizer, and use a very weak solution of Miracle Gro to feed them for a month or two. With a small cutting, too much fertilizer (organic included) can cook them.

I've used Finitech before. It's a nice product. It is a water-based product that has ALL the same requirements as all other water based products = max 2 coats per day with light abrasion before the LAST coat. If this person REALLY DID to 3 coats in 6 hours (which is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG) then I can guarantee your floor did NOT get the light abrasion before the last coat. And if you have raised grain, then the light abrasion did NOT occur after the FIRST coat either. Oh dear. And it is up to FiniTech to tell you whether or not MINWAX is allowed with their finish (not the flooring refinisher). The guys at FiniTech are really nice. They are passionate about their product and they are SUPER PROUD of what they do. Go ahead and reach out to them. They will be happy to help. And your floor is splotchy. Birch is hard to stain (kinda like maple). The edges of the floor are an excellent indicator of the level of skill this person has = limited. A buff and coat will knock down the roughness. It will NOT correct the incorrect application time. And it will NOT speed up the cure time. Too many coats put down in a single day = EXTENDED CURE TIME. Like 7 - 10 days LONGER to cure than if the guy had simply waited to apply the last coat the next day. I think this is a redo...but if you can live with the *possibility of adhesion failures then you might want to try the buff and coat with a caveat stating that if adhesion issues happen in the next 10 years, the company will come out and fix it = full sand/refinish.
