This one is really good. It is my version of Applebee's Red Apple Sangria.

Red Apple Sangria

3 oz Full bodied dry red wine (Shiraz, Cabernet, Zinfandelâ¦.)
1 oz Sweet-n-sour mix
1 oz Apple Liquor ( I used 99 Apples brand)
1 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Cranberry Juice

Garnish with Chopped apples, orange slices and fresh cranberries.

I will often make enough for just one glass if Moe is having something else. I just use my favourite traditional Sangria recipe and reduce it.

Pour enough red wine for one glass of sangria into a small carafe, add the juice of half a small orange, cut up a slice of lime, lemon, and orange, a splash of Triple Sec and a little sugar syrup. Stir, pour over ice in a large glass and top with a splash of soda water.

Easy, delicious and ingredients I always have on hand. You don't have to use an expensive wine, but you want a full bodied red that is good enough to drink on its own.

You know if you look at the ingredients of lemon/lime soda, particularly a natural one, it is sugar syrup and lemon and lime juice plus carbonated water. So to me it is easy enough to skip a couple of steps and just mix red wine with natural 7-UP or a similar good quality natural lemon-lime soda. Then add liqueur of choice, I often use peach schnapps or triple sec. Garnish with fruit of choice. Oh if I could only still drink wine and acidic fruits! I love summer sangria. I also make white sangria the same way.

In the winter I used to love warm wine "glogg" which I would make by adding my home made apricot brandy to a glass of red wine with a cinnamon stick heated in the microwave!

Teresa I thought of you yesterday when I was in the grocery store. They had sangria in single serving bottles! It was from some Mexican company, you could buy an 8 pack of bottled sangria! The ingredients were lemon, lime, sugar and carbonated water plus wine. Boy, if I could just drink wine I would be all over that! In fact, if the bottles had not been glass I would buy a pack and send you them to sample! I'm just hesitant to pack up and send something liquid in glass bottles. Seems a little too risky, I have already broken a glass bottle of Coke that spilled all over the back of my car when it fell out of the six pack on the way home from the grocery store. I do like the taste of soda in glass much better though! There was a whole section of sodas next to the sangria, made with sugar, not HFCS. Apparently this Mexican company is sensing there's a niche for them in the market!

I admire your restraint...

My go to summer cocktails are a Frozen Sea Breeze or NH Quencher (Blueberry Vodka & Lemonade) or White Sangria or....a Corona with a lime (for mowing the lawn). Oh and I forgot...Mojitos. I'm sure I missed a few... :-)

I understand Sangría is traditionally made with red wine, but after several attempts at softening the tannic edge of sangria made with reds, I've given up.

A Rioja (Tempranillo) was my first mistake choice. While the raisin, tobacco and leather notes were muy repulsivo, its deep, gorgeous color would make an excellent wood stain.

I switched over to the lighter side years ago. Nowadays I prefer sangria made with white wine.
A dry Riesling from Germany being my all-time favorite. It's light, refreshing and a very flexible wine. Although, some may still find it too sweet. However, I could drink it straight from the bottle, although I haven't - And you can't prove it.

You could halve any recipe that sounds good to you, or prepare an entire batch and invite some friends over.

Sol

Equal parts of chilled 7-Up and inexpensive chilled burgundy, merlot or whatever in a pitcher. Slice a washed orange or two somewhat thinly and a lime or lemon. Squeeze them gently over the pitcher as you dump them into the wine mixture. Stir. Serve in a tall tumbler over ice. Garnish with an orange slice if you like.

sol, Riesling is one of my favorite wines but I had not thought to use it in sangria! Thanks for permission!

I've got an orange, a lemon, brandy, 7-Up, peach nectar, and berries and I will get some Riesling or Pinot Grigio for sangria this weekend.

teresa, the more berries the better (blackberries, blueberries and strawberries. I use Riesling or Pinot Grigio also. Taste yummy as well as pretty.

Last night I fixed a sort of sangria using La Dolce Vita, a somewhat sweet wine from an Italian winery in NC, Raffaldini. I added 2 TB peach nectar, 1 TB brandy, an orange slice, a strawberry, and ice. I didn't add any 7-Up because the wine was a little sweet already. My sangria was good, but I think I'll finish up the bottle "neat" as they say and not add anything to it.
