Unless you know the preferences of each particular teacher, I'd go with something easy to share or freeze, and not necessarily sweet. Cookies, buns, scones. Though chocolate is usually a winner. If you know the teachers adore chocolate, you could go for intense, grown-up chocolate cupcakes. I haven't made "the best chocolate cake ever" parve, but I bet it would be fine, and it really does live up to the billing. :) If the teacher is Jewish and doesn't bake, I'd think challot would be welcome. Or if you want to impress the socks off of everyone, alligator. :) (It's not hard to make but people get a bit rabid about it...)

Home baked is always lovely, but unless you're the only one doing it, it can get a bit like mishloach manot at the popular kid's house. :) (Our congregation does them as a group project, so everybody gets one Purim basket with a hundred names, instead of a hundred baskets, thank goodness.) Perhaps a loaf of good sourdough bread?

Or homemade jam or a fruit curd? I was once given a jar of homemade cranberry curd with some flaky sweet biscuits to pair with it (and it was worth the Calories!).

I'm not big on sweets. :) It's the thoughtfulness that I treasure. Home baked is always a lovely gift. I really do think any of the above would be nice, though the sourdough might be too far out of the box.

I'm the only one baking. I decided on Cinnamon rolls and biscotti with Dunkin Donuts coffee boxes for the lunch room and
AnnT's danish's for the baskets.

Ilana, that's a lovely idea. I really like the biscotti idea along with the coffee and Ann T's Danish is one of my favorites, I can make 4 and they freeze so nicely. Not that there's usually a problem with leftovers, LOL.

OK. If you know me at all, you know I am a night person and rarely am up before 7:30 am.

Today I got up at 4:45 AM!!! and made 7 trays of cinnamon buns. LOVE pioneerwoman's recipe. I made the dough yesterday and kept it overnight in the fridge. Delivered them hot, along with coffee and biscotti to school this morning (by 6:45 am!! and left them in the lunchroom with my business cards (and a copy of my food safety certification - lol)

My kids came home from school and said the teachers were raving about the rolls.

When I went later to pick up the trays and biscotti jar, everything was "licked clean".

Now it's 9:30 and I can barely keep my eyes open.

I second your shout out to all teachers! Especially to Mrs. Lee who taught me things in first grade that became particularly important when I was in graduate school.

But, I have to demur on being included. I think I really did have a positive effect, but I wasn't teaching for long enough to deserve to be included, and I was lucky enough to be teaching post-adolescents. I offer a special dose of gratitude to middle school teachers!
