muffins won't rise--Help!

Has anyone else tried this recipe?
It sounded like it would be so nutritious and good but i cannot get them to rise.

I have tried to make these muffins 5 times now and I still cannot get them to rise.
They come out like cooked lumps of dough, that don't even expand into the paper cup. My husband eats them, but I would really like to see them have a better texture.
I bought new baking powder ( Rumford), I've tested the oven temperature. What else can I do?
I'm thinking of adding an egg next time.
I tried adding baking soda and did get a small amount of rise so that they did fill out the papercup sideways, but still do not rise to the top of the paper. they seem to be way to heavy. Do they need more flour?
How much banana should there be? "One" ripe banana depending on size, can give you anywhere from 1/2 cup mashed to 1 and 1/2 cup.
Thank you for any help.
