Juicing Question - Content Of Juice Vs Solids

John Liu

I have a general question on juicing.

When I juice apples, beets, carrots, etc my machine produces roughly equal volumes of juice and solids.

How much of the nutrients and calories are contained in the juice and how much in the solids? Roughly.

And is there any useful thing to do with the solids? Cooking uses? Can I dig it into my garden soil?

I was thinking about this after reading studies in which drinking 16 oz of beet juice daily reduced subjects' blood pressure by 10 pts. That is due to the nitrates in beets. 16 oz is quite a lot of beet juice. I started wondering, how many whole beets is equivalent to 16 oz of juice?
