The very generous Teresa-mn is at it again!

Found a package waiting for me
When I got home Wednesday evening.
And look what it contained!

Isn't it great? ? ?
Along with two (yes, TWO)
good sized zip lock bags of wild rice.
I just love that stuff!

And I love LOVE this cute little pan!
Just the right size for me.

Now, which recipe shall I try first? ? ? ?
Decisions, decisions!

FW, I'd love to share! But AFTER *I* see some flowers if you know what I mean. Nine pretty plants covered in buds that fell off a few days after coming home. Now condensed to 3 hanging pots and 1 in a tree-base washtub planter. That one's really pink too. It got a little frost bite but has recovered well. Asleep, IDK. They'll be outside until frost looms, then I can't control the lights inside. That's what I have to offer, we'll see what happens in the spots I have available. PG, the ones that are so pink/purple were right in the east windows for winter so were much more used to the direct sun. Paired with other plants that didn't get direct sun, you can really see the diff. although they've all been outside for 2 mos now. I keep looking for sunburn but haven't seen any yet. I put a pot of cuttings where it gets sun all day, literally, and it doesn't seem to be burning, has cute tiny new leaves, raspberry pink. Some get only morning sun, that really pink one's sticking out in the sun most of the day, the wind blows it in/out of the shadow of the porch roof. Early in the season yet, I'm watching... I was surprised that rudbeckia Goldsturm did not come back for me. This is one that people swear will take over the world, but I lost it. Well, actually, the weird thing is, I planted this literally 12 years ago or so. One of the first plants I ever planted. It grew and bloomed for about two years, then that was it. But, even now, 12 years later, I still get about two or three leaves that come up, but no buds or blooms and it hasn't spread in all those years. It's in an area slated to be redone, so I've never bothered with replanting, but I'm always amused by those two or three leaves. I've also lost a few hostas, which is really puzzling to me! And luckily, I did try - as a beginning gardener - I did try to plant chameleon plant (houttuynia - sp?) THREE times and all three times it died.... thank goodness! Now I know better and do a bit more research before planting, but I am really grateful for that failure! Dee

We have quite a lot of spring blooming trees coming out of heat dormancy and blooming here in Oklahoma. You see trees looking half dead with maybe one or two branches green and blooming. I think there will be a lot of major trimming and removal of dead trees next year. Another weird thing is the warm season grasses. Most bloomed very early. My Panicum grasses started blooming in late June. Bluestem in mid July. Its usually not until late August or September on these. We got a bit of rain in September and with the cooler weather, I have never seen the thick flowering I am now getting on my natives. Its like they saved up energy and its all being put toward flowers all at once now. I have Thelesperma plants that are solid yellow mounds now. They bloomed all summer but now they are in hyper-bloom mode.

There was all that talk about aebleskivers last weekend....... it caused me to make an unplanned trip to the Nordic Ware Outlet store..... and I just could not help myself!

Jimster and I are waiting for you to post your first batch Rusty. I am tempted to make some tonite for dinner.

We will be waiting!

I went to my niece Kristina's house tonite. She lives 20 minutes away and I offered to watch my two great nephews while she ran some errands.

I brought the mini skiver pan and whipped up a batch. I used a simple recipe - the one I use when I make a Dutch baby. They turn out hollow and are perfect for filling. And what do you suppose a 5 and a 7 year old wanted piped into their skivers? Good thing I thought ahead and stopped for a can of whipped cream. No pictures - they were eating them faster than I could squirt whipped cream into them. :-)

Teresa's kindness & generosity wasn't the surprise.
The pan and generous amount of wild rice was!

And yes, I can see how you could make 'ice balls' with it.
And no, I'm not going to try it.

Now I must confess.
I have never made or even eaten an Aebleskiver before.
In fact, I'd never even heard of them
before reading about them on this forum.
They sound intriguing and delicious.
So I am really anxious to make some!

I've read all the recipes I can find,
I've watched all the videos Dcarch linked to.
And hopefully, later this week I will get brave!

I do want them to be hollow, not cake like.
I've read how to fill them as they cook,
But Teresa's 'trick' of piping the filling in sounds good, too.
I can just see those two little boys' happy faces
As they devoured those 'skivers'.

Most of you know, I have never done food pictures.
But Teresa, and Jimster, I promise,
I will (try) to post some if (and that is a great BIG if)
They come out anywhere near right!

So you had never even heard of aebleskivers until reading about them here. Isn't this forum great!

And now you are equipped to become a master aebleskiveler - not sure that is even a word. :-)

We don't care if the pictures are good. No one starts out being the perfect photographer. BTW the picture of the pan looks great!
