Butter still good?

Chi

I bought $60 worth of butter during a sale and put it in the garage fridge last week. Came out to get some and the fridge is 60 degrees. I threw out all the milk and buttermilk and cream cheese, but can I save the butter? I don't know how long it has been like that but I don't think more than a few days at the most. The sticks were still fairly firm. They smelled okay. It is unsalted. I moved it into the house fridge. I hate to throw it away but I don't want to get anyone sick. I know lots of people keep their butter at room temp.

Advice? Will I be able to tell if it is rancid? Thanks!
