filling cupcakes

Instead of the normal size cupcake, I've made mini-cupcakes (1.25"). The recipe calls cutting a "core" out of the normal size cupcakes and filling with a chocolate ganache. What will happen if I put the ganache in a decorating bag fitted with a small round tip, insert it into the mini-cupcake and squeeze a bit of ganache into the cupcake? Is this going to work? If not, is there a better idea?

The cupcakes are in liners. After filling, they will be iced so the filling hole will be covered.
